  Warm atmosfere

  This hotel is located at the city center, convenient if you want walk around to visit the small town. However parking or train station are not close. Rooms are nice and clean, although a bit small. It's very quiet and comfortable. Breakfast is kind of sufficient, could be better. Free Wi-Fi only in the rooms.

  Hotel no recomendable por sus propias instalaciones muy anticuadas y mala relación calidad/precio, distante de Basilea y sobre todo de Zurich. Curiosamente no mantienen personal a cargo del hotel fuera del horario de recepción de clientes, por lo que en caso de alguna emergencia no existe nadie a quien poderse dirigir para solucionar cualquier asunto urgente.

  Typical swiss hotel hospitality

  This hotel is an example of swiss hospitality in one place. You get a feel of traditional swiss architecture and furniture. Right in the middle of Solothurn town center, it is ideal for a visit of the surroundings. The restaurant is worth a visit with its signature dish flambee chicken on a stick. Service and breakfast is good old fashion with tea served in a proper teapot and a burner to keep it warm ( rarely found nowadays). The walls and ceilings are all solid wood giving it an unmistaken swiss alps feeling. The rooms are clean and decently furnished. Wifi works well in the room but not in the restaurant.

  Idyllic hotel right in the town centre

  First visit for us. Very pleased what we found. Excellent room with very comfortable and large beds. Well appointed bathroom. Lift to all rooms. Friendly and helpful staff, especially a Mrs. Wuethrich who was very helpful and attentive at breakfast which was varied, excellent and very plentiful.

  If I could give 6 stars I would

  I arrived at the hotel to check-in only to find that I had mistakenly booked the wrong date and the hotel was full. Furthermore my rate was a non-refundable non-flexible special offer for pre-payment so I was pretty much resigned to my fate and accepting that I was going to need to hunt for another vacant room nearby and pay again. However the lady I spoke to asked me to wait for a short time until someone from the management was available because they may be able to help me secure something elsewhere - which I very much appreciated - so I took a beer and sat on their lovely terrace in the sun admiring the bang in the centre of Old Town Solothurn location. After a short time a gentleman appeared and told me that they actually had an apartment across the street ready and prepared for longer stay guests who would arrive the next day - however I could take it for the night and take breakfast at the hotel in the morning - he even offered that if I'd prefer, he'd prepare a breakfast and bring to me at the apartment! We went to the apartment and it was fantastic - huge lounge/diner, huge bedroom plus bathroom and kitchen - all fully prepared with linen, toiletries and towels for the guests arriving next day. Of course I took up the offer and breakfast next day was superb (I took it in the hotel). Now this all in all is just FANTASTIC customer service. The mis-booking was 100% my fault. However the hotel treated me wonderfully and created extra work for themselves in needing to again clean and prepare the apartment after my unscheduled stay. Even the beer I took whilst waiting for the manager was offered to me complementary. If I ever come back to Solothurn I will be sure to book the correct date ans always stay here - absolutely wonderful.
