  Taste of German hospitality

  Stopped here on an overnight stay. Check in was awkward as no English spoken and I had to wait to check in as a waitress who was checking me in,was tending to a party of women who was eating in the restaurant. The room was modern and spacious and was very good value. The hotel is very well situated in the main street of the old town. We ate at the Hotel restaurant and was reintroduced to good hearty German food. The buffet breakfast was extensive and was more than expected of a three star hotel.

  Nice hotel, not inside the wall of Augsburg

  We stayed for one night while on a cycle tour. The owner was very nice and we parked our bikes in a locked garage. The room was very large for Germany. good bed, good shower. There was a problem with the hot water, but it was corrected in an hour. The restaurant was closed the night we were there, but there is a great Italian Trattoria very close. Breakfast was excellent. The location is not inside the walled town, but you could walk there.

  Safe choice

  Located in the interesting centre of Arnsberg, with own parking - very nice. Large rooms, good beds, clean. Nice hotel staff, very friendly. Choice between more formal restaurant and the bar, perfect when traveling with kids. So, a safe choice for a decent hotel. The price quality ratio makes this a very interesting choice - it's worth your money, hence I recommend it.

  Good value but uninspiring

  Arnsberg is a rather spread-out town with shops and hotels scattered here, there and everywhere. The Altemarkt (Old Market), where lies the 'Zum Landsberger Hof' is quite a nice broad, cobbled, street and looks especially good at night with a few sidewalk cafes and bars. The hotel itself is a rambling place with a slightly 'last century' dusty atmosphere and a curious collection of childrens' dolls in cabinets in both the hallway and the restaurant. The welcome is fine and the rooms clean and roomy. there are no frills such as hair dryers or coffee machines but then one never gets these in Germany. The hotel has ample off-street parking. The best thing is the price. We paid Euro78 for our perfectly satisfactory en-suite twin room (about £50). A decent buffet breakfast was Euro4.80 per person extra. Nice little, very friendly pub with outdoor seats immediately opposite. Final note: our rating of 3 stars reflects the difficulties with Trip Advisor's highly unsatisfactory ratings system where 3 stars is 'average' whilst 4 stars is 'very good'. This hotel is certainly not 'very good', but it does deserve to rated 'good' for which Trip Advisor offers no grading! More reviewers need to protest about this because our own suggestions have fallen on deaf ears!

  Interesting hotel

  The staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are spacious clean and comfy. Unfortunately the smell of smoking in the bar permeates the hotel and though the breakfast was what one would expect the 'hot' food was cold. The hotel is situated in the old town and a very good location to tour from.
