  Habitaciones muy pequeñas, parecen más una pieza compartida que un hotel

  Lo que tiene de bueno el hotel son dos cosas: Es casi la única opción de alojamiento en el bello pueblo de Freudenberg ; El restaurante. Las habitaciones individuales con muy chicas, con baños a los que habitualmente les faltan jabones o espacio para tener una buena ducha. La calefacción es buena, imprescindible durante el frío invierno alemán.

  Fell in love with this place the very 1st time I stayed - 1983 & 1985

  Freudenberg used to be a favourite place to visit in the 1980s for business. The first time I was at Zum Alten Flecken was in 1983 (or was it 1982?) and then again with my wife & 12y old daughter in 1985 - definitely 1985 summer visiting my friend Glasmeyer who stayed there. A lovely Hotel, excellent & friendly staff, ideal location, comfortable rooms and "oh so very heavenly" - the hotel and Freudenberg. Went back often - the last visit was in 1995 and I found it as beautiful as in the 1980s. They say CLASS is permanent - and it shows.

  Well-appointed and reasonably priced

  We arrived here on a late-summer evening and were greeted warmly. The rooms are ample, and comfortable; ours, at the top of the house, had a good view of the extraordinary town centre: the "Fleck" is an ensemble of half-timbered houses with slate-tiled walls. Wi-fi connection a bit erratic, breakfast very good. The hotel does not have parking spaces, but it is not difficult to find street parking and there are public car-parks nearby. Freudenberg is several miles from the No. 45 (E40) motorway, which is a longer alternative route between Frankfurt to the south and Cologne/Köln to the west. It is not a good place to stay if you're in a hurry, but well worth a visit if you have the time.

  Charming weekend stay!

  Even though this hotel needs some renovation (especially the bathrooms), I still consider it a nice and definitely a very charming option for a peaceful stay in Freudenberg. The building is absolutely wonderful and they have a nice restaurant serving local food. We had a standard room which was very cute and spacious. The bed was comfortable and we got a good sleep even though the room was above the restaurant and we heard some noise. There is heating in the room but no air conditioning which can make it feel a bit hot during summer. However, you can open the windows to cool it down a bit. The bathroom was on a smaller side and in need of renovation. General cleanliness was so-so and the room we had would need a good scrub, especially the floor and the bathroom. The breakfast was wonderful! Plenty of choice and everything tasted delicious. Also the lady working during the morning was very nice even though she didn't speak a word of English. All in all, this is a nice hotel, considering the very low price. We specifically loved the old charm of the building and the matching interior of the room. Only downside is cleanliness and the outdated bathroom. Everything considered, we would definitely return. They also have a sauna that they don't mention much but it's free for visitors. We decided to give it a try. Positive side was that it is a real, authentic Finnish sauna so you can throw water on the stones and get a proper steam, which is not common in Germany. Negative side is that it's very, very (!!!) outdated so don't expect much. I had emailed the property before our stay with some questions but never received a reply but they were very helpful on the phone when I called a few days later. Not sure about the parking in front of the hotel on the street (don't think it's allowed to park there) but there is free parking (P4) about a 5 min walk from the hotel. There are signs directing to P4 as you approach the old town so it's impossible to miss.

  Hotel familiar en la parte hstórica de Freudenberg

  Hotel pequeño, familiar, con desayuno correcto, habitaciones sin lujo, pero limpias. En general correcto. Lo puntúo bajo porque el primer día, aun habiendo avisado de que iba a llegar tarde, por un retraso de mi vuelo llegué a las 00:40 y me encontré la puerta cerrada y sin posibilidad de entrar y acceder a mi habitación y me tuve que buscar una alternativa por mi cuenta. Además en ningún momento se disculparon.
