  Hotel fine but location not so great

  Arrived at the hotel in Bad Godesburg after a very long day's cycling with many detours because of flooded cycle paths looking forward to a nice meal and a pleasant relaxing evening. After checking in I went for a walk to have a look at the area and it was very quickly clear that there was nothing at all going on, so had to get a train into Bonn itself, next morning the same thing, decided to give it another go in the light, but it's quite a way uphill from the river and there is just nothing worth seeing in the local area. Hotel itself is fine if nothing special, located close to the station on a pedestrian street, room smallish but fine, staff good, breakfast ok and parking for both cars and bikes. Nothing wrong with the hotel apart from the location, but nothing stand out either.

  I stayed here two weeks in a row for meetings in Bonn. The hotel was very clean, quiet & centrally located. Had a good nights sleep. The breakfast was a varied selection. Hotel staff friendly & receptionist served in the small bar in the evening. Reasonably priced.

  Stylish mix of modern and tradition

  Hotel zum Adler is a smart, family run city hotel that features attention to detail in a relaxed setting. The building is approximately 150 years old but has been tastefully modernised to offer comfortable bedrooms that all look out onto a quiet central garden. For a light sleeper this is ideal. Some of the rooms have a/c and the internet is excellent. The bar area is all wood and soft lighting and is the perfect place to enjoy a bottle of Kolsch, the local beer. The area in which the Hotel is situated is about two miles south of central Bonn and a five minute walk to the Rhine. There are gorgeous parks nearby. Unfortunately the pedestrianised street has seen a shift in demographics and now has a large number of Arabs who are visible because dozens of the women wear the black burka. So incongruous to the civilised feeling of the hotel and Bonn in general. That is not to say the area is unsafe or even threatening; I simply wished not to see this kind of clothing on my holidays. The breakfast was excellent. There was even a toaster, bacon and scrambled egg (and ketchup)! I enjoy the continental breakfast but one can only stomach so many cold cuts and cheeses in the morning. If you're driving there is an underground carpark for the car. The staff are super helpful and naturally polite. I would recommend Hotel zum Adler and would visit again.

  Delightful retreat!

  Although we only spent two nights here (attending the wedding of our first German exchange student) we found the location to be central to our needs, quiet and most comfortable. Great neighborhood with a nearby park. The German breakfast fruhstuck was amazing and included in the price. Staff are exceptional and speak English, a boon to us benighted monolinguists.

  Quality room for good price

  All I needed was a clean place to rest. Everything about this hotel and specifically the room was adequate. Small room for one with clean shower, towels, and a comfortable bed. This is a nice hotel for the price and I would stay here again.
