  Extremely nice, considering the price

  I had a single room on the right side of the hall, facing the entrance to the building. The room was generally clean and bright, with a modern bathroom and plenty of linens. The room included a writing table, a couple of side chairs and a TV. Amenities included a liquid-soap dispenser and one packet of shampoo. Everything but the carpet was in pretty good shape. While not worn, the carpet would definitely benefit by being shampooed. My room had two other little problems: the bracket for the shower head was missing, so I had to hold the hose-style shower head in my hand. And I was located over the entrance to a bowling alley four stories below, where people came out to smoke and talk until some time after 4 a.m. If i went back, I'd ask for a room facing the other side of the building. I felt very safe there, as the floor ladies were extremely attentive.

  Modern rooms close to the railway-station

  The reason for picking this hotell is that it is next to the railwaystation. The rooms are also quite nice including a modern bathroom with more than enouh room for your legs. 50 rubles for å single room is probably not the best price in town, but still quite reasonable. The catch is that is 20 minutes or so walk to the old town.

  Great location at a decent price!

  Travelled to Vitebsk from Minsk by Marshrutka which departed on the hour and took about 3 and a half hours. Had a day trip by train to Polotsk planned and was also heading to Brest on the overnight sleeper so wanted somewhere to stay close to the railway station that was the main reason for choosing this gaff. The location was very handy for the station which also happened to be where the minibus dropped us off less than a five minute walk. The town centre was a pleasant 15 minute stroll away over the Kirov Bridge. Not only did it look like this place hadn't been refurbished since the 1970s it didnt actually appear like anyone had stayed there since then either. But nothing wrong with the room which was well appointed and very clean. The receptionist was extremely friendly and helpful although zero English was spoken this wasnt an issue and our registration was completed without a problem. Using a well known internet search engine translation service we were also able to arrange for our bags to be looked after on our final day before we were due to catch the train to Brest. However, something got missed using Google Translate as initially the hotel agreed to store our bags for five years! Now that would have been decent service...
