Exactly what I expected for a Chinese 4-star hotelI stayed here for five nights in April, 2015. The hotel, built in the 1990s is showing its age. For example, on my second day one of the two elevators in this 28-floor hotel broke. As a result, sometimes the wait for an elevator was 5 minutes or mote. I think that there are better hotels in Harbin, but this hotel was fine during my stay. Pros: Location was adjacent to the Harbin subway line and in walking distance to the provincial museum. Lots of restaurants located nearby as well as Qiulin Department Store, which sells amazing locally-made sourdough bread. My wifi was free and relatively fast. Room was clean and housekeeping service was good. Not the largest room in the world but it was in good condition. Flat screen TV, though channel selection almost exclusively Chinese language channels. Room maintained a nice temp without needing to continually mess with the A/C-heating system. Cons: Bathroom was old. Hot water pressure was weak. Bed was very firm (could be a pro thing if you like a firm mattress). Breakfast was largely Chinese items. My biggest breakfast issue was that it didn't open until 7am each morning, which made making 8am meetings something of a rush. English skills of the staff were limited, which would make this something to consider if you do not speak Mandarin.

Old Hotel in a commercial areaThis hotel was very old. I think the cleanliness and tidiness of the hotel was hindered slightly by its age. The lobby was shared by other restaurants and commercial facilities so it was a little messy. Daily cleaning didn't do much for the old carpets and furniture, nor the bathroom. If you're a bit of a clean freak like me, and cleaned your own toilets more than once a week, I would not recommend this hotel. My partner found it acceptable but I was very dissapointed. Breakfast was just ok. Lots of eateries in roads/laneways near by. There's an underground shopping facility close by but seemed like they were selling mostly the same things and didn't provide anything super interesting.

Would expect more for the money I gaveThis hotel is slightly better than other Chinese hotels, but the cost per one night was over 580. If I compare that in some places I got 5* hotel western style for same even lower price it brings me to think that Hearbin is either expensive city or I just made a wrong choice. Yes they have a small swimmingpool and a gym, and the rooms are clean and tidy, but I wasnt so surprised. The breakfast is 100% chinese style... But better than nothing.

Rooms old, too warm, breakfast not goodI am very disappointed. The rooms look much nicer in the internet. They are old and the rooms and bath rooms need renovation badly ! Breakfast is served until 10 o'clock, BUT the tables are being cleared before that. Coffee is Nescafé and not freshly brewed coffee. I perticular did NOT LIKE the constant loud tv in the breakfast room. One wants to have a bit peace and quiet especially in the mornings.

Chinese 4 star is about a USA 2 star and its far from city action.A lot of the other reviews have been highly accurate. I picked this hotel based on its location in regard to the train station. However, I later found out that the high speed rail drops you off at a station outside of downtown called the west station. So make sure you know what station you get dropped off at when you visit Harbin. However, the big surprise to me was that it was a 25 minute bus ride to reach the action around the Ice Festival. The hotel service is decent, and the wifi speed was pretty good considering it is China. However, there is a real old stench to the whole hotel. The breakfast does not do well to break a western appetite. They get very confused when you start asking for milk for the coffee. It brags about being a 4-star China hotel, but if it were in the USA it would be closer to a 2-2.5 star.
