Descripción general
The hotel is located near the Number Six Beach, and is a great spot for appreciating the sunrise. It is about 2km from the railway station, 4km from the Harbor and 40km from the airportThe hotel was built in 1911 and is of typical European style. With its superior geographic location, luxurious and elegant style and warm services, the hotel was also the first one in the city of Qingdao to open to overseas guests.

Clean and perfect locationWe've been here for 2 nights. Our room was in the basement and described as "no window" room. Actually we had a little window to the street. The room was big and clean. Also the Bathroom absolutely clean. The whole Hotel makes a very good impression. Breakfast for Western people is ok but also could be bit better. For Chinese I'm sure the buffet is very good. Love to stay here again next time

Holiday by the SeaWhat a delight. A grand hotel only a stones throw away from the sea front. We stayed 5 nights having changed from a dreadful hotel. So glad we did. After walking up the steps the doors are opened by a uniformed bell boy, always with a NIHAO and a smile. Check in was simple enough despite the language barrier. We chose a twin room with no window. Very good rate. The room was through the lobby and down in the basement. It was a good size with separate shower room and loo. My only complaint at this stage is that the internal bathroom and loo doors are frosted glass. Not much privacy for friends sharing however there are clean loos just up a small number of stairs if need be. The room had daily top ups of toiletries and beds were made everyday. The hotel was clean although not spotless. Dirty cups were not replaced in the room, however fresh apples and water is left daily - I like This! There are many facilities within the hotel however I didn't make use of them so cannot comment, too busy exploring the city outside! Location is very good. Walking distance to virtually everything you would want to see or go to. Close to the railway station, the park, restaurants, shopping street, night market. For everything else a taxi or bus is available. The buses are quite simple to use, we paid ¥1 per bus ride - the electric bus is ¥2. I would definitely recommend this hotel and I would stay here again.

Good location, cheap but a bit ascientAs many one said, it's at very good location. But it's at an early 20th century German building, so if you are not an European tourist who like that style or limit budget, it wont be an ideal choice. To me, I stayed in area B, North direction, back to the coast/main street, and on 2nd floor. So there is no view for my room, no sunshine, and actually nothing than a 10 square meter roof and 5 floor high building at the opposite. There is no heating around end Oct, when low temperature drop to 4 degree, very cold at night or wake up. Honestly, it might be better in Summer or Winter at good price.

No air conditioning in roomI was given a room in the basement of this supposed 5 Star Hotel. I had no problems with that at the time I booked. I knew that the room had no window. But when I checked into my room I discovered that the air conditioning was not turned on. Consequently I had no air coming into my room. I struggled to actually breathe in the room. The service desk was unable to provide me a better room on the night I checked in. I spent the night struggling with the horrible conditions. Luckily they had a better room on the 2nd day and I appreciated that. I had a far better night of sleep then. What annoyed me was not the service I was provided, they tried their best in my opinion. What really annoyed me was the fact that the hotel management obviously feels it's not important to provide a basic service of air to the rooms. Maybe they are trying to save money? Interestingly the room on the 2nd night on a higher level 'did' have air-conditioning running. Based on the lack of absolute care of the guests I give the hotel 2 stars. 4 stars are for the service desk girl who obviously was trying her best. My room was next to a laundry room and the picture shows.

Great location but poorly maintained & managedA historic hotel in great location! From mold in the shower, poor attitude of the receptionists, to unfriendly waitresses at the restaurant, you could tell this hotel is poorly managed. Obviously the basement used to be a spa or a health club or both as indicated in the poster in the elevator and promoted in the information binder in the room. They didnt bother removing the signs and information even though the whole level was converted into windowless guess rooms.
