Finding snow monsterthe ski-in ski-out hotel was fully booked so I choose this sister hotel nearby. It only takes few mins walk to the nearest ropeway station or u can ask hotel shuttle bus to drop u by. Staff are nice but they know very limited english. Dinner and breakfast is good. Breakfast serves as buffet with little english sign. There's also Onsen which only few steps away from hotel entrance. This onsen seems has stronger smell and beautiful than in-house one. Do visit if you have time! There're also foot bath there~

Lovely StayVery impressed with the Japanese style room which was very spacious and perfect for our family of 4 adults. The room was clean and the beds very comfortable. The 108 steps onsen (outdoor) was the best part of the stay with breathtaking view in the snow. The main hotel building also have its own onsen that came with indoor and semi-outdoor pool which is like an infinity pool, and also provided amazing view. The staff members spoke limited English, just like how most of us tourists speak limited Japanese so it's fair. However you could tell they were trying their best to assist us with our enquiries and I really appreciated that. We originally signed up for 7pm dinner but then realised we won't make it by the time we came back from the night tour of tree ice monsters, after going back and forth with the front desk staff they finally understood what we meant and took care of everything for us. I find dinner to be on the average side, however the presentation was impressive and the service attentive. Furthermore it was great value considering the price here is a lot cheaper than a traditional Onsen Ryokan that serves you full Kaiseki meal (and would have no excuse if their food was just average). The breakfast buffet provided everything from eggs and bacon station to curry on rice, there were of course plenty of Japanese style breakfast items such as tsukemono and miso soup. The hotel also set up a coffee on the go station so that guests can help themselves to take away coffee as they finish breakfast. Overall we really enjoyed our stay here. It may not be the newest or the grandest hotel in the area, but it provided a very comfortable stay with nothing to complaint about. The hot spring is worth a special mention and we were very lucky that it was snowing like crazy when we visited as nothing beats dipping in hot spring in the snow! (although not so lucky when we visited the tree ice monsters).

Really poorI feel this is way to expensive for the service you receive. Everything about the place (bath, rooms, facilities) is average at best. Lots of heartless - verging on fairly chaotic- robotic customer service with none of the heartfelt omotenashi Japan is renowned for. Ive stayed at around 100 Japanese style hotels/inns and would rank this in my bottom five. I asked specifically for a meat-free menu on making the reservation but the request wasnt taken into consideration and I had to wait for ages for an alternative to be prepared. Thats pretty disrespectful in my opinion.

Way too expensive but extremely poor western roomsI booked the room on its official website. There are other options via agencies with better deals but on its homepage there were more options to the food/dinner so I chose to spend a little more and was expecting better service. I was wrong. The room we first got was a smoking room and EXTREMELY SMALL EVEN BY JAPANESE STANDARD. When I complained about the smoking smell, they changed for us to be in another corner room, which was slightly bigger but still ridiculous for the price and the facilities. Service at front desk was heartless but good in the restaurant. No service or amenities in the onsen that offered really. The only good thing about this hotel is a short walking distance to the cable car station. And they have free coats/rain boots for guests to use.

Beautiful HotelStayed in the Japanese style tatami room. It's warm and cozy. Clean and well kept. The dinner was very delicious, especially the grilled beef, tender and juicy. Breakfast was buffet style, not too bad, plenty of food to choose from. Staff members were warm and friendly. We were picked up by hotel staff from bus station within 10 min after a call was made to them. The driver also sent us to our next hotel nearby. View from our hotel room was serene and pretty.
