Affordable stay during the Canton fair and the hotel provides a shuttle bus to the Canton fair during the expo dates. We arrived at the Guangzhou train station. From there the taxi driver managed to find this hotel easily enough being on airport road. At check-in, I asked for a non-smoking room in Cantonese Chinese, but was met with a blank stare. So I asked in English instead and it took me a few minutes to understand that they could only give me a smoke-treated room. The room itself was clean and tidy enough, but the toilet seat was broken. I didnt want to be charged for something that was already broken. So I called reception from the room, who put me through to maintenance to see if they could fix this. The guy who answered did not speak Cantonese Chinese nor English. So after a period of a chicken talking to a duck, I gave up and decided to go down to reception and tell them about it. They then informed me that they will get someone to look at this. But nobody ever came to fix it during my entire stay and they didnt charge me on check out, so that was all I was worried about really. I found it difficult to communicate with the staff in this hotel. None of them are locals from Guangzhou, so they dont speak Cantonese and their English is barely understandable. Other than that, the room we had did face the airport road, but the only noticeable noise was actually from the social dancing that went on in the basketball court below. But thankfully this did stop before bed time. I couldnt get the PC in the room to work, but that was not a big issue for me, as the TV was working just fine and the beds were comfortable enough. The hotel provides a shuttle bus to the Canton fair during the expo dates. They called the room to make sure you know the bus is there. The driver had a typical mainland Chinese attitude. He needed to empty out his trash and didnt care as he tipped it out right next to where you were standing. His driving wasnt much better. You get given a card with the hotel info on it. When it was time to return to the hotel, trying to find the shuttle bus back to the hotel was a total nightmare. Turns out the bus bay number is written down on the back of the hotel card and youre suppose to know that what that number means without any sort of explanation. I asked the one of the staff who sits behind a desk in the lobby where the metro station was in Cantonese and while he was being as helpful as he could replying in Mandarin, I could just about understand what he said with his gesturing and managed to get myself there. The actual route goes like this: I needed to walk out of the hotel, turn left, cross the road (at the intersection, youll see the metro symbol pointing the way), then cross over the main airport road and then turn left and follow the metro symbol walking more or less straight on till you see the station on the left (theres no escalator down to the platform, which makes carrying a baby down in a pram sweaty work). Also be careful of the bikes when you are crossing these roads, as they dont seem to stop like the cars do. Plus there are motorised ricksaws that can run you over from behind as they cross the roads the same time as you do too. There are plenty of eateries and supermarkets left of the hotel along the main street and makes for a pleasant enough stroll in the evenings. On check out day, we were able to leave our luggage out the back and collect it that night. We need to use the toilet before leaving for the airport, and the one out the back was not pleasant at all for a hotel. But overall, I think this hotel was an affordable stay during the Canton fair period. Just a last note about the Guangzhou airport - I left 4 hours to get to the airport, but the journey from the airport to there at 7pm was actually quite reasonable. It was only at the airport that I spent a good 2 to 2.5 hours queuing up to get through the luggage check and immigration points. Im pleased that I was paranoid and allowed for so much time, as there were quite a few people there panicking and shouting that they were going to miss their flight.

Good 3 star HotelIts your typical no frills 3 star budget hotel. Its a little dated but the rooms are clean. Location is very good as its about 10 mins walk to the subway. If what you want is a clean place to rest at night at a good price within walking distance to the subway then this place is a great choice. There is wired Internet access in the rooms only. Note no wireless internet access. But its fine with me as I always bring along a small little wireless internet access point device. Internet speed is fast.

Good locationI booked and paid in advance for this hotel through Expedia. When I arrived they said the rooms were full ! The only available rooms were business rooms which we had to pay 100 Yuan more. But I have booked and paid for the standard room already and they should have kept the room for me. I don't think it's my fault. The good thing that I have sent an email to confirm that I would be arriving late and please keep the room for us, I also got a confirmation. When I showed them the email, they let me stayed in the business room free for one night. Apart from that, the rooms were nice compared with price. Not far from the subway, you can walk 8-10 mins. There is Wanda mall near to subway which is a mall with shops and restaurants. They have Wifi but very slow. The hotel is quite nice accept from trying to get more money for not saving the rooms for what I have booked and paid for. The best thing is to send an email to confirm your booking with them.

Good enough serviceOne of the staff spoke good English and was very helpful with locations to visit. The hotel was in a good location close to the metro making it easy to move around. However we made our booking through iata and paid for room with window when we got there really late they insisted that we had no window which was no good and we had to add money. The second room was spacious but very hard beds as well as cleanliness was an issue.
