Fantastic stay!Location was great, near to the train station and shops. Amazing view from hotel room, excellent service. Yufuin is such a beautiful and peaceful town. Cherry blossom is everywhere, even in front of the hotel. Awesome stroll along the stream (just behind the hotel) with cherry blossoms and flowers all around. It feels like paradise. Breakfast is good too!

Convenient, Relaxing, Nice onsen, well-managedThe hotel is just 5 min walk from JR station or bus terminal. I chose it because of its location convenience and relatively large onsens. Free shuttle is available. I can see the hotel is well-managed. The staff are well-trained in greeting, check-in, escorting you to the room, prepared everything in your room before you arrive ( e.g. boiled hot water ). The dinner menu is well-planned too. There are 2 onsens at 1st and 2nd floor. Available for men and women in turn. The 1st floor onsen is larger with better view. My room is large with beautiful mountain view. Very nice.

Onsen only experienceWe visited to try the onsen here, which is open to the public from 12 noon to 4pm, otherwise it is reserved for hotel guests. Mens onsen on first floor has hot and cold pools, while womens onsen on second floor has only hot pools when we went, but there was a rooibos tea hot pool in the womens onsen! If you believe tea is not only good for drinking but soaking in as well, good to try. View of the mountains very relaxing, and water temperature can ease all your aches and pains away after a day of wandering, eating and shopping around the pretty Yufuin area. Reception staff ably welcomes guests who speak English and the fee to enjoy the onsen is quite cheap. We always enjoy onsens on our trips to Japan, and this one was no exception.

Very DisappointingA typical 70s ryokan hotel. Service was lacking -for example our luggage was carried from the car to reception but not to the room. The room was very dated with the original furniture and dirty carpet. It was larger than normal, with a large picture window with good views. Two acceptable onsens, which rotated between men and women. The evening kaiseki dinner was not great, with some typical courses (for example, tempura) missing entirely. Breakfast was a disgrace - it was buffet style with very low end food. Every expense was spared. The dining room was too small for the hotel so as a couple we were sharing a table with a large family. This might be OK in Tokyo food court but not in a GBP200 ryokan. It was a chaotic experience. Overall very disappointing for the price.

Old but nice location hot spring hotelTraveled with my family to Oita and stayed at this hotel for a night. Although the hotel was a bit old but still provided a desire size of hot spring to choose from. Package included breakfast but not so much to choose from. In general, price is a bit high compare to other hotels around Oita. Location may be one the good thing as it is 5-8 walk from station or main town.
