Average hotel in a good locationYoung Dong Hotel is located just opposite the famous Garosu-gil, close to restaurants, bakeries and shops. My biggest issue with the hotel was the air-conditioning. It was centrally controlled and I think to save costs, the hotel turns it off most of the day and night, leaving it cool only for a few hours in the evening. I have lost count the number of times I have to call the front desk for it to be made cooler, and they do, but after a couple of hours, it goes back to being warm again. Turning it up to Highest only causes more warm air to blow out. Trying to sleep in the stuffy room is impossible. The rooms are small but if it's just used for sleeping, is adequate. The walls are thin, and you could hear people talking, TV noises, and doors banging and closing. The wifi is free, but drops out every now and then. We didn't get breakfast with our room, so can't comment on the food. There is a gym; however, the only treadmill there is almost always being used by the staff from the massage place. It's a pity, as the hotel is in a great location. Staff are friendly enough, although some can't really speak English.

Cheap Hotel in Gangnam AreaHotels can be very expensive in Gangnam area but this budget hotel is worth staying. The building is kind of old but the rooms, toilet and bath are clean. Staff can speak English and very helpful. Location is near the train station, shops and restaurants as well as plastic surgery clinics are around the area.

Best and only option in Sinsa/GarosugilAt the moment the reality is this. This is the only worth hotel to stay at in this particular area. Price is good, location is great, service is decent enough, can't complain. Sinsa station is a a short walk away. Strangely enough, this very very fashionable area has not too many hotels at the moment. There used to be another great hotel right on Garosugil but it was shut down last year and replaced with a retail store. I've heard that in the next months there will be a new hotel in the same class opening in the same area but I cannot comment on that yet. The only other options are guest houses. YeongDong is pretty much a business hotel located on a small hill just one block away from the beginning of Garosugil. The hotel hosts the very famous Club Holic in the basement but noise was not a problem at least for me staying on the 8th floor. My room was one of the newly renewed deluxe doubles. Remember that the 8th floor is actually the smoking floor but the reason I stayed there was because the 11th floor which also has deluxe rooms was not renewed yet so I decided to stay on the 8th floor. I had no problem with smoke smell, the room had no smell. Very spacious, complete separate bathroom with shower and tub. Toilet has a washlet if you are either Japanese or from Japan like me and usually use them. Furniture is quite simple but the room had a very beautiful and brand new LG flat screen big TV with Korean, international and movie channels. Bed was comfortable and queen size. The wifi signal was very very strong and on top of that the room also has LAN; speed was very good by hotel standards. There is a small fitness room but it's just very small very small with outdated machines, just forget about it. There is a restaurant and I believe a coffee shop but I never went there so I can not comment on those nor the food they offer. Check in and check out were very smooth. I took the late checkout on the departure date and they charged me only $3. In the room if you want to use a toothbrush or some other little items charges are very small, like $1. There is some kind of a mini bar including just a few sodas, beer and of course water. 1 bottle of water its free of charge every day. The air conditioning is centrally controlled so sometimes you might have to call the front desk to get it turned on, but the room even if outside we we're experiencing very cold temperatures was quite warm. The English level of the people working at the hotel it's quite poor but going to Korea often I know that you will experience bad English in any hotel you might go to. Final thought......... This is a very good Hotel to stay at. It's not the Ritz Carlton but after all for the price you're paying you're getting a great deal, especially if you can get one of the newly renewed rooms on a high floor facing Garosugil.

From ThailandRoom is clean, Breakfast is quiet good, Good location. There is an exercise room. Hotel is near shopping street and there is Thai, Japanese resturant and Starbuck Coffee nearby. The reception area is old but the room is already renovated.
