  Christmas Party

  I'm not usually one for writing review however, having read a recent review of the same Christmas Party i attended i felt i had to comment as the views were unfair and did not reflect the feedback i had received on the night from the rest of our party. The staff were all very helpful and polite and couldn't do enough for us, they did everything they could to make sure we had a good night. The food was of a much better standard than many venues i have been to for a Christmas party. It's very difficult to cater for 50 + people at once and most of us who were there appreciate that. With regards to the portion sizes, these were adequate for the majority but anyone who asked for more was served straight away. I can't comment on the temperature of the champagne as i stuck to prosecco which was perfectly chilled. The only negative feedback i had was with regard to the music as there weren't enough "floor fillers" to get people up and dancing and the layout of the tables which split the party up slightly. All told the feedback i have received about the night have been very positive and i would recommend York House to anyone organising their own party.

  Excellent

  The restaurant and breakfast was awsome, the room was a little bit dated, but the ensuite, toiletries kettle tea coffee, hair dryer mini fridge with soft drinks and water, iron and ironing board TV were amazing, staff friendly and helpful. The frontage of the restaurant need a facelift it lets the place down, as the restaurant is amazing.

  Lied about what they told me and don't inform guests about noisy function room.

  When I checked in and went upstairs to my room, about 5 minutes later loud music started coming from the floor below me. I immediately went to reception and asked about this. They told me there was a function and the music would go on until midnight. I asked if it was possible to have the music quieter and they said they would tell the DJ. Later that evening, after eating, the music was just as loud and I rang reception and they said they would ask for the music to be turned down. The music was not turned down. I rang booking.com, who were very helpful and told them I wanted to check out on Saturday, a day early. They rang the hotel and told them and again asked about the music. I had some important work to do that evening and this was difficult with the music. I checked out on Saturday and unfortunately only kitchen staff were present, but said they would request the refund for me. I have now spoken to booking.com, having not heard from the hotel and they have lied to booking.com, saying that I was told on checking in about the function and that I agreed to stay! This is a total lie! The hotel do not let guests know when they are reserving that there is a loud function room and certainly did not tell me when checking in. Had I known about the function room, I wouldn't have mad a reservation. To then lie about what they told me is disgusting behaviour and not what I would expect from any accommodation provider.

  AVOID THIS HOTEL

  I booked the function room for a funeral wake , i went in person to look around to check it would be suitable and i was shown around by the manager , he informed me the hire of the room would be £300 but if i let them do the catering the room would be free i agreed , they offerd a selection of sandwiches , pizza , chips , spring roll's and tea and coffee would be included at a cost of £300 to catter for 40 people i agreed and was asked to pay in full there and then to secure the room . As the funeral was at 2.30pm i said we would arrive at 3.00 to 3.30pm . .. ON the day as guest arrived nobody showed them the way to the room so guests just wonderd around the hotel , the food arrived just 1 waitress came with the food she only had a small selection of sandwiches , chips , spring rolls she looked really unhappy and never spoke to anybody , i asked where the rest of the food was and the manager said thats it ,and that he never said anything about pizza or tea or coffee and that was a miss understanding on my part . guest said they could have done better food from asda for £50 . I noticed people who were not at the funeral helping themselves to food they told me the hotel as homeless people staying there and they were hungrey and could i spare some food , i agreed to let them help themselves ,because it would have only gone to waste , i left the hotel at 17.15 and as soon as i left the staff asked the rest of the guest's to also leave because they needed the room for another reception ? they also told them i had only payed for the room until 4pm , which was a complete lie why would i only book a 30 minuet funeral wake ? the whole thing was crazy one blunder after another please dont waste your time and money here , nobody as a clue whats going on . the hotel is for homeless people its obvious once you have a good look around.

  This is not a hotel its a disgusting hostel

  Just been to this hostel to drop my daughter off and removed her immediately, this place if filthy and the owner did not give a crap and told us to leave if we were not happy. They think its acceptable to have a 5 week old baby in these conditions. The cot had a board covered with a sheet for a mattress. Photos attached room 101
