CleanThis hotel was nice, clean, quiet and convenient. The breakfast was quite good and the restaurant very good. No English speaking staff made things a bit challenging at times. Not enough hot water was our only complaint. Great price for a good hotel.

Excellent quality priceConfortable and pleasant hotel for a very good price. Rooms are big and clean. Western food at the hotel's restaurant is surprisingly tasty. Breakfast is Chinese style but coffee and bread are available. Hotel staff does not speak good English.

If you want to be treated like you're at airport security, this is the place to stayThe place doesn't look too bad but the service here is atrocious! 'Andy Zhang' was at the front desk, not even a sign of a smile on his face or even a look in your direction checking in. He also couldn't find our booking, so we spent 30 minutes waiting for him to rummage around in manual paper, which is just left in boxes behind the desk and click around on his computer. I was then asked for my passport 3 different occasions, which became very frustrating when you have to keep taking it out of your bag, due to a persons incompetency in completing his job properly. He then threw my passport around on the desk, as though it was just a bit of rubbish and flicked through the pages so aggressively, I felt my pages were being ripped out! He then said to my friend who is Chinese and helping us check in, that he needs a photocopy of our passport. When questioned why, his response was 'because we have to. If you don't want to, then you can't stay'. Bearing in mind he wasn't going to give us a refund if we 'can't stay'. Utterly rude mannerism from this staff member and to this this was an establishment in hospitality. Then the rest of us (3 in total), decided to look around and another guy approached us and told us we weren't allowed to go up. Up where exactly? We were still in the lobby area, nowhere near lifts or stairs and no key to even enter the lift go up. If you want to be treated as a criminal before even checking in, this is the place to be. To top off the horrible experience, the rooms smell so badly of an ashtray you'll instantly want to run back out. The bed smelt like cigarette ashes, the towels, the floor, everything and the walls are extremely thin. I could hear next door shouting and having a party as if they were in my room, people shouting down the corridor and music blaring early in the morning before 7am outside. NEVER will I stay here again nor would I recommend it. If I could 0 stars to the service I would.

Needs new carpetsThe positives: The bed is the best bed I have had in Dalian (have stayed at 5 different hotels); I actually wish I had it in my home. The food at the breakfast bar is good with good variety. Bathroom was clean and functional/comfortable. The location is handy if you are working or visiting in Shahekou. There is a small exercise room with treadmill, dumbells and a weight machine. Housekeeping was fair. The shortcomings: The carpet in the room was worn and dirty--needed replacing--never looked or felt clean. Carpet in the sitting area of the lobby was disgusting. Other than the bed, the furniture in the room was old and very worn out--about to break. Food was poorly stocked at breakfast--get there early or they will run out. The air conditioning was inadequate for August; when I told the front desk they said there was nothing they could do. Also, this hotel gets a good bit of tourists and tour groups. There were children running around and screaming on my floor at 10:00-10:30 p.m.

Comfortable western bedsWe stayed at this hotel for the second time because its situated close to my girlfriends brothers home and it has good beds. The rooms are clean and you get free water. There is a very small gym at the hotel with a multi machine and a treadmill and some weights. The breakfast is ok and I really like the fried rice and add some beans and fire egg and Im good to go. They didnt have an option for an extra bed so our daughter had to sleep on the floor. We borrowed some thick blankets and got an extra duvet from the hotel. The shower in our room was really nice.
