  Special birthday visit

  It was hard to find at first as its in an alley. Small hotel but reception staff were lovely and very friendly. Rooms are small but that was what we expected glass door into the bathroom and it was strange not to have a window. There was tea and coffee and complimentary toiletries. There is no restaurant in the hotel and breakfast was interesting. Plenty of places if you know what to look for. Do your homework first. Also we found Google translator a god send, as we found not many speak English. It was fun using it. And made it interesting for us especially when we used the main train to go from one side to other. Location is great for metro and we bought what is like a london Oyster card and it's easy to top it up in the machines. We went to the zoo which was excellent, also the cable car to the tea plantation its a must and a great experience. We even used the launderette opposite the hotel

  pros: 1. location - very near mrt and ximen shopping area. also near red house 2. decent size room 3. with free toiletries 4. with elevator cons: 1. luggage are stored in the lobby. no proper luggage storage

  Budget Hotel, Sparse, but Convenient

  Located down a side ally two blocks from the Ximen MRT this is an ideal location. This is a clean, efficient hotel if you don't mind a room without a real window. Some rooms have no window at all which I find confining. My room had a frosted window in the bathroom. Granted I could open the window, but given the humidity and the facing apartments close by, that was not ideal. Pros: Budget priced, clean room, good functional bathroom, and friendly service. Cons: Small room, no view

  Nice boutique hotel! Really friendly staff which helped us with directions. Rooms were small but clean. It's in Ximending area so lots of convenience stores and restaurants nearby. Also, very near subway!

  Best (literally) hidden gem in Ximending

  Stayed here in November for my birthday weekend with my friend. It's literally tucked within the alleys of Ximending, BUT, once you find it, you'd realize it has the best location, literally just street crossing and a few steps away from The Red House. (Let me help people here by saying that you should get off The Red House at the back exit along Xining Road, find the Birkenstock store and go through the alley right beside it, and then turn right and voilah. Turns out, this is the easiest way.) It took time for us though to really find it - which was difficult late at night and with no English-speaking people around. But once we did, it's a breeze from there and you'd realize why it's one of the best value bookings in Ximending. The room we had was small, but comfortable enough, and it was cleaned daily as we requested. The reception desk is 24 hours which we appreciated since we arrived after midnight. Suffice to say, I'd stay here again if I ever go back to Taipei! :)
