Terrible service, practically a jokeWriting this now, myself, husband n 3 young children have just made the decision to drive back all the way to KL n we arrived home at midnight. this whole weekend getaway was a disaster. We arrived at the smokehouse just before 1pm. Since our Russell suite wasnt ready, we ordered lunch. There seemed to be hardly anyone working. Tables not set. We waited for over an hour for the food n the place was not even full. When the food arrived we didnt even bother asking for proper cutlery as we get no response from the waiters, ended up eating with our fingers as the kids were so hungry. Up in the suite most of the furniture looked worn. When the kids wanted to have a shower in the afternoon we noticed that the hot water heater wasnt working. Notified the front desk, the repair guy took a rather long time n it was dinner time when he assured us it was fixed. We were on our way to dinner (not wanting the same experience we had during lunch time, we decided to eat out). When we got back, finally thinking we could have our shower or bath we found that there was still icy cold water. Go down to the front desk n they take their time to send their repair guy. Children were getting restless so we asked if they could let us use the shower in any other room, the lady responded that all rooms are occupied. Offers to send us some hot water to see if we can make a bath, they send up a tiny kettle (yea the mini one u use to boil water for your tea ). Ok, we would need like how many rounds to fill the bath? Still we tried. But then there was no plug for the bath sink. We asked the front desk, they made some lame excuse then forgot the whole matter. So how are we supposed to use the boiling water option if we cant collect water in the bath tub?????Their repair guy tinkers on n off for nearly 2 hours, by then its nearly 10pm. When I demanded whether it was fixed, he said it should be but still no sign of hot water coming out of the taps. Then he disappears n we dont hear anymore. By this point we are so fed up. There is no follow up or offer to help. We just packed our bags n drove off. What a joke of a place! Its such a shame because about 6 years ago we stayed there n it was great. Either this management needs to be revamped or the whole place can go to the dumps! For me, never again will I set foot into this joke of a place

Not as used to be...I do visit this place when ever I get too busy or stress with work.. from KL its not too far.. for me.. I enjoyed the drinks and the food with good surroundings, chill weather. But lately it getting worst. Maybe less customers their bar getting lesser stocks. They only had beer, and Johny walker. So I ordered Johny walker. And oh my how they serve me... in a glass which we have beer in Chinese stalls. And no taste of the alcohol at all. I hope, the owner please look into it. Its a great place.

Charming but .....Clearly at one glance the place is charming, notwithstanding the history that comes along with the property. Heres what we got for two rooms each exceeding RM300 Per night. 1. Musty smelling rooms 2. Filthy carpets. There are huge gecko droppings and dead insects on the carpets. I dont hear the sound of any vacuum machines when housekeeping is cleaning up rooms..... 3. Zero mini bar facility; no kettle, coffee or tea, no refrigerator. Only 2 500ml of drinking water bottles and a fruit platter that looks like the fruit has been sitting in the room for days. 4. Doors that dont close well 5. One of the rooms came with faulty bathroom lighting. Not fixed even when complained 3 times. My kids had to come over to our room to take their showers otherwise they would be feeling their way around in the dark 6. Stray dogs and cats permanently guarding our rooms by the stairway 7. WiFi was non existent even when access was given... seems that the telco is not paying too much attention to ensuring services are satisfactory. It is such a shame to see the state of the property. It seems that not enough is put in to keep the place in shape. Furniture worn down, the garden is a mess. Plenty more to go on but Lets get on to the f&b So... Generally Malaysian hotels f&b is generally satisfactory ( to my standards at least ) but heres one thing I HATE with breakfast served in Malaysian hotels. Its never a full English Breakfast if Im going to be served with bacon and sausages alternatives, canned mushrooms and baked beans. This to me is a cuisine faux pas. Beef bacon is just disgusting. Hotels here should just not bother with this. I get it that is has to be pork free but why bother. Just serve a local breakfast instead. Keep it real or dont bother. Dinner was not any better, if not worse. We ordered two beef sirloin steaks, one rack of lamb and an English beef pie. Our starters were soup, which took 20mins to arrive. Main course took 45 mins to be served and the food came cold, except the pie. The excuse? The kitchen had to wait for the pie to be ready before serving the rest. The steak and lamb rack was like rubber when cutting into the meat and best of all.. we were given normal dinner knives and not steak knives. Complaining didnt have any effect. The staff were only verbally apologetic and no other means of appeasing the situation was offered. The staff generally are competent but Im of the view that they are extremely understaffed and clearly not empowered by the property owners to make the place any better or to serve their guests better. Imagine, front lobby staff is also seen waiting tables and serving food.

How shall I put this?Ok,this place needs some refurbishment.I know its a old building but the carpets can be changed.Checked in on the 1st of January with my family. We booked Charlotte Suite and Alexander Suite. Both rooms together were RM1140.00 per night.Does it worth it,not at all.Charlotte was ok but the water pressure was low . Alexander had a bad smell and shower was not working due to a leaking but they rectified it later. On F&B , I went to their bar ,the menu has all type alcoholic beverages but when I ask the bartender,he showed me only 1 bottle of Black Label which dont taste like black label. We had dinner and that was an awful dinner.staffs was friendly and Ms Maya was very humble and Rafiq too.Overall from outside it looks cozy and beautiful but from inside it has nothing to offer. They should get more locals to work there, better CHEF is a must, more choices of beverages and better plumbing!!!!
