The charm of 1912 English Inn

My wife and I just love staying at the Ye Olde English Inn. The hotel was built in 1912 by William H Johnson one of my friends great grandfathers. His son William W Johnson expanded in 1927. Just a few years ago and two owners ago the hotel went under a massive rotation. But most all of the original charm including the lobby and the restaurant remain the same. It is a wonderful quiet place to come stay in the food is quite excellent in the pub. The beautiful thing is you are just a stone throwaway from Branson Landing. So skip the chains and come and enoy a charming 1912 English Inn

    Just so so

Wife and I went for the first time to this circa 1912 establishment that did resemble ab old English tavern and fish house. Tables were worn, kinda dark, chairs not too comfortable. I had fish and chips. The French fries were standard, the fish had been deep fried in old grease that left a bitter taste from the batter. The fish was dry. My wife had a sandwich that failed to ring the really good food bell. But the clincher was that we finished our meal and the server never came back to our table with out check. 15 minutes later, a server from another table came and asked who our server was, but I didn't know her name. He went back to the register, got our bill, took our payment and apologized. And that, as they say culminated our first and last visit to Ye Olde English Inn. It was interesting eating under elk horns about four feet across.

    Bad service

First impression nice hotel on outside, but after check in employee was asleep on couch on second floor. On check out waited 15 mins for someone to show up and check us out. Small rooms and no hot water in the shower.

Do NOT stay here in DECEMBER EVER!!!! Nightmare stuff and the rudest I have ever met in my LIFE

Do NOT stay here in DECEMBER EVER!!!! Nightmare stuff and the rudest I have ever met in my LIFE!!!! OMG we stayed here 1 night Dec 14th 2019 and had a show at 3pm. We needed to check in about 1pm so called at noon and nobody was even there so we left a voicemail that was not returned no call back. Showed up at 1:15pm and again nobody there but the adjoining restaurant was open....called again and the phone rang behind the counter and rang bell and nothing....restaurant guy said the lady was upstairs and would come down...he finally called her and she was furious we were there. She said she doesn't mess with ozark deals and wasn't messing with me and was screaming at me. NEVER experienced anything like it and come to find out they had CLOSED DECEMBER 5th???? They had sold us a voucher so decided eh we can stay when they say we can so we checked in at 10pm after a show and slept....stained carpet and brown towels mixed with some white wash cloths...towels use to be white but was so grungy and unbleached they should have been thrown away. This place is wretched DON'T STAY!!!!! I travel a LOT even out of the country and this is one of the WORST experiences ever and way overpriced and just horrifying service and rude inn keeper hating on her job and everyone that would dare disturb her from living upstairs there.

    Festive Christmas Getaway

We really enjoyed our stay at Ye Olde English Inn. The hotel has the perfect Old English charm with modern amenities. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. The Christmas Decor was very festive and perfectly themed. The restaurant had a great ambiance and incredible food. We especially enjoyed the smoked trout. The hotel was located on a charming street In downtown Hollister with several cute shops. Only 10-15 minutes from every Branson attraction. If your looking for a boutique hotel with a great location, charm and personality. I highly recommend Ye Old English Inn.
