Disappointing and upsetting for so many reasons...1. Room was boiling hot upon our arrival. Radiators were on in the living room and kitchen; boiler was on full blast. Even after unplugging the radiators, it was still like an oven. Our electricity went out the first night. Staff came to fix it, upon which I asked him how to lower the temperature, pointing to the thermostat. He shrugged and indicated that there was no way. The following morning, I reported the situation to reception, who asked me what temperature I wanted (22 C.) and got on the phone, presumably with maintenance. She said they'd come at 11:00 to fix it. When we returned at 18:00, no change. The next day I happened to ask the guests in the neighboring chalet if theirs was hot. The man jumped up, came into our chalet, flipped ONE SWITCH down on the electric panel, and showed me how to operate the thermostat (the controls are hidden behind a sort of *aron kodesh* configuration). Relief! But it had to come from A FELLOW GUEST! What? Two staff personnel could not tell us/show us to FLIP A SWITCH??? Then my daughter figured out how to turn the boiler off. So our final two days were bearable. I say bearable because the temperature dropped -- thank goodness -- but we couldn't open the windows for the delightful breeze because...NO SCREENS. And bugs!!! We even got visits from a cat and a bee! Even with the temperature problem solved, the chalets are airless. In a correspondence with the property (in which whoever handles correspondence seems to know decent English, unlike the live staff), they told me that a hair dryer was provided. I never saw onenot that I needed one, it was so hot! 2. These are A-frame chalets. The upper level (2 bedrooms) are reached by stairs that are for all intents and purposes, a ladder, i.e., you descend facing the stairs. Precaious. I didnt even bother trying to get a suitcase up there; thatd be nearly impossible. I changed clothes, etc. in a space underneath the stairs. The double room was so small that I had to bend over and slide myself around the bed to get in. Not fun. 3. We only found 3 outlets that fit modern-day plugs: 1 each in the bathroom, kitchen, and seating area. Upstairs are all old-fashioned fat pin outlets, so no charging your devices where you sleep. Inconvenient. 4. restaurant: Loud music in the restaurant that one waitstaff refused to lower, claiming, "It's for everyone [to hear]." What? Patrons complain that the music's not loud enough? In what universe? Menu: Two meatless breakfast items; we ended up ordering french toast every day; "jam" was artificial. Packed breakfast was on white bread. What tourist wants white bread? From their site: Breakfast info Continental, Italian, Full English/Irish, Vegetarian, Vegan, Gluten-free, American After finding no vegan options the first morning, we were told they had to be ordered in advance. Misleading.

Kill it with fire...Just don't. After a long 2 weeks driving around the Balkans for work, a colleague and I wanted a nice quiet mountain getaway to rest up before heading home. We were met at the gate by a rotting dog, covered in bulbous pustules and its own excrement, chasing us and wanting to share it's diseases. The management we're difficult from the beginning pretended not to speak English and answering all of my questions in Russian, not even Bulgarian. They tried to put us into a little crack cabin, with stained child's bunkbeds and more disgusting animals standing guard. We refused the room, it wasn't fit for the rotting dogs and didn't have any of the facilities listed on hotels.com. The second 'cell' we were shown was a little cleaner, still 1960s faded plastic kids mattresses and unloved decor, but it wasn't as dangerous as the first. We took it, laughed and figured we'd at least have some stories to tell. This 'delux cabin' also didn't have any of the facilities listed on the company's website or hotels.com. The pool is an exaggerated child's paddling pool full of insects and dirt. There are no bathtubs, only cramped 'over toilet' showers. There was no spa. We figured we'd enjoy it more with a beer so, headed down to the restaurant. A group of 16 year olds sat banging out Chalga and appalling dance music from their phones accross the restaurant. They turned out to be the staff. One girl was really friendly and fun and answered honestly when I asked what was 'safe' to eat, and admitted most of it was prepared a long time ago and frozen. They don't accept credit cards so very kindly let me pay in dollars for a small mark up. It wasn't 100% terrible actually. A bit of a cultural experience, but after our first beer and some salad the mangey cats and dogs were surrounding us and we ran away, for our health. Day two. Went for a walk and discovered we were miles from the resort town. The forest around the cabins has been used for generations of rubbish dumping and is completely unsafe to walk through or explore. Nowhere in town to park or get food, even the Major central hotels didn't have ATMs or accept cards so, we were stuck, ended up driving to Lidl When back at the 'camp', our entry key wouldn't work so we took a walk down to reception. It happens, often contactless keys end up next to phones or other cards and lose their coding etc. We met a beast of a woman behind reception who proceeded to shout at us incredibly rudely about our booking, telling us we'd done something wrong so she'd locked us out... She was arm waving and having a full-scale meltdown, no amount of logic or discussion was going to help her. We showed her our booking email which clearly answered all of her questions and tried to calm the situatuon, but she was crackers, on a mission and looking for a fight. She was clearly trying to scam/scare us into paying more, pretending it was a luxury resort, ignoring everything we could see in front of us. We hastily packed back into our rental car, threw our key back at the beast and fled to Sofia. While leaving she shouted 'NO, YOU STAY HERE', 'YOU DONT LEAVE'... As if we were captives... Never been happier to get out of a place. Will be getting a full health check when home for whatever those dogs and cats were suffering with and have reported everything to hotels.com for a refund. Seriously friends... Beware, this place is not just bad, it's dangerous, a public health hazard and a scam. It should be burned to the ground, doused in bleach to clean the ashes, then burned again just to make sure.

Satisfiedwe came for Borovets mountain park for 3 days. the villas yagoda are traditional and beautifil, the place is quiet and as we came in summer the villa was in good temperature. thr breakfast could be better ( we ate continental breakfast in the list) but the only thing that I did not like was that we had not cleaning service every morning in the room, so the towels were 3 days used.

The long weekend venueWith our late Saturday arrival and extended weekend stay we had a good party for a friends bachelors party. Our house was warm and cozy. The other house had sauna inside. There was no shuttle service to the ski area and there is no pedestrian alley to have a safe walk to the center. Have a good stay and pray for snow.
