  Comfortable Home

  I lived here for over 5 weeks while working at a nearby university. It was a very comfortable home. The room was nice-sized and well-arranged. I was in a room with 2 double beds so I used one as a place to organize stuff. The good: Room was quite clean. Staff were great very friendly and handled a couple very minor issues very quickly. There were ample outlets in the room which is really nice when you are working. And the internet connection was always quite good. There was ample space for all my stuff. There was still enough room when my husband joined me the last couple days I stayed in this room. There was a desk and chair, but also a nice, comfortable stuffed couch. I spent many a late night on this couch working. Air conditioner worked well. Nice view. Breakfast was very good. (No American choices if this is important to you. Personally I love the food in Shanghai so I wouldnt have eaten American food anyway.) Little shop that caters to the students in the nearby dorms is attached to the hotel it had what few essentials I needed. Possible Issues (none were an issue for me personally): The bed was hard as a rock, but I like beds this way so I was quite content. The drain in the bathroom sick was a bit noisy. Again, the noise did not bother me. Outside of the little shop there was absolutely no shopping anywhere near the hotel. And no restaurants outside of the expensive hotel restaurant. Only thing missing (from my perspective) I would have liked to have a small refrigerator. I cannot comment on the cost since the grant paid for this. But the grant administrator told me he selected this hotel because it was reasonably priced. I would absolutely stay here again.

  Great place for extended stay

  I stayed here for 6 weeks from early December on business. Room was large and convenient for work (large desk, couch, enough electric sockets). Carpet and walls were not very clean but towels, bed sheets, and bathroom were clean. Bed was large and very comfortable. They have an excellent traditional Chinese buffet breakfast between 7:00-9:00 everyday which I still miss. All hotel staff were so nice and they did their best to resolve any issue immediately. XueYuan had the fastest maintenance service I have ever seen, the maintenance person was always at my door as soon as I put the phone down. Front desk ladies kindly helped me with an issue I was having with CTrip. My husband joined me during my last 2 weeks here and we didn't have to pay anything extra even for the breakfast. There is a small Lianhua supermarket right downstairs which is very convenient. XueYuan is right next to East China University of Political Science and Law. It is also within walking distance (15 minute) to Shanghai University of Engineering Science (where I worked). There are 3 bus lines go by the bus stop near this hotel: 15, 24, and 99. 15 and 24 go to Songjiang University Town metro station via Guangfulin road. 99 goes to Songjiang Xincheng station. Both stations are on line 9 that goes into Shanghai downtown. Walk on Guangfulin road is very scenic, you can access Guangfulin Relics Site in 5 minutes by walk from hotel. Walk on Sanxin road is also nice and you can find eateries and markets in the East China university dorm area behind the hotel. All in all, this hotel is perfect if you work at/visit nearby universities.
