  A Hidden Gem

  When you go to a 5-star hotel you know that it has all the necessary hardware to claim its status. What really makes the difference is the service. When you have a problem with your room or when you need help getting around, you want the staff to be there for you. That's exactly what the staff has done for me, from the receptionist to the waiters. The room is well equipped, clean and spacious, with WiFi access. The restaurant is great with both international and local food. The breakfast buffet is amazingly rich in taste and variety. The location is a bit far from the downtown area but is within walking distance to the subway station. It's also very close to a huge flower market and to the popular tourist destination, Tien Lake.

  Stayed as a tour group

  I stayed at this hotel as part of a chinese tour group that costs $99. It is a great, first class hotel with a great gift shop, great facilities like gym, spa, massage, and many restaurants. Elevators can be slow, especially when many tour groups of 50+ are staying at this hotel at any given day. The only bad part is that it is far from the city center. Taxi rides are expensive, and the rail is 15 min of walking. Also, outside of the hotel, is not the prettiest area, kind of like outskirts of big cities.

  Decent

  Rooms are of a very good decent size and also the amenities are complete. Only down side is the lightings which is slightly dark. There is not a single mirror in the room. Breakfast on the 28 fl comes with a view. Food range is decent with noodle and eggs station.

  Xinshenddahong International Hotel in Kunming

  As the previous reviews say, the rooms are clean, the elevators are a little slow, and the buffet restaurant on top is good. Rice noodle is served every morning. There is nothing to see around this hotel except a big flower market. Also, you must endure cigarette smell in the hallways.

  Yunnan tour

  Went on Yunnan group tour. Stayed 1 night at Xin Shen Xi Da Sheng Intl Hotel. Quick and fast checkin checkout. Spacious and clean room. Roof top breakfast on 28th floor. Hotel located in new city which is 1 hr away from old city.
