  No vale lo que cuesta

  Sólo estuve una noche en este hotel y no puedo opinar soblre el spa porque ni lo vi, pero a mi me parece que la habitación correspond más a un hotel de 3 estrellas. Me la dieron en un segundo piso, sin ascensor, y con unos escalones muy estrechos y bastante empinados, resultando bastante incómodo subir la maleta de 20 kg que yo llevaba. Para lo que cuesta creo que no merece la pena, aunque la situación es en la calle principal, estuve otra noche en un B&B y aunque estaba en una calle más secundaria (poco relevante considerando lo pequeña que es la localidad) la habitación y el desayuno eran francamente mejores, y el precio más barato.

  We wanted a break for some long overdue time together. We picked this hotel as they had a spa weekend deal on at the time. So this review will cover the restaurant and spa as well. Hotel - We got to our room and there was a strong smell of smoke in the toilets, I spoke to reception and they gave us another with no hassle. The only issue was it was in a different wing with no heating. Reception got the towel radiator fixed and gave us an electric heater to heat the room. The rooms were nicely decorated and they do seem to be doing it up as some parts of the hotel are modern and others are tired and dates. I wasnt sleeping in the hallway though so the decor wasnt an issue. It was clean as well. So the staff are excellent and the building is average. 3/5 Spa - this was great. The girls were friendly and the treatments were nice. 5/5 Restaurant - The food and wine is incredible. We really pushed the boat out as well. Both steaks were cooked the way we asked. The one and only issue is the way they price the food. Say its £30 for a steak, well you then need to spend £2.50 if you want chips, £2.50 for some mushrooms, £2.50 for some peas etc. You dont know if each side is enough to share until it turns up (it isnt) and if Im being honest, Id rather the chef just served the meal as he/she intended with everything on the plate. Id be happy to just pay a bit more to have that. Again the staff were great. 4/5

  Spa break

  We had a lovely stay, very friendly reception staff, lovely clean rooms, spa was lovely and massages were fab! We had a lovely meal included in the package, would definitely return to the hotel, we had a brilliant girly weekend.

  Lovely Hotel but mind the stairs!

  Parts of the Hotel are shut off, the Covid rules are well adhered to. Sadly it gives this lovely old coaching inn a sad face. This Hotel is obviously the hub of the Town and is a beautiful old building. As it is Grade 11 listed, no lift. My companian and I were put on the top floor, three flights of stairs, the last flight steep and difficult with a door on the top step and nowhere to stand. We are both fit and we were given the offer to have our bags taken up but being sturdy ladies of an indeterminate age we refused. Big mistake! Be warned and ask if you are on the second floor. We took advantage of the Wilson Bar for dinner on the first night. Food and service were fine. It is obviously a popular place. Oswestry has many good eateries, some of quite fine quality and is well worth being adventurous. We also took advantage of the swimming pool which is small but very pleasant and there is a jacuzzi. Very welcome after a day of sight-seeing in he vicinity which has some quite stunning views and sites to visit. The room was comfortable and the bed was huge and comfortable. Bit dark but OK. All facilities worked and all was clean. All in all would recommend as a good central location with all the right facilities for an enjoyable stay. If you don't mind the stairs!

  Spa Break

  What a excellent visit. From start to finish every member of staff couldnt be more friendly and accommodating. Being on my own you never know how it will be but i felt like i was treated like a princess. i will definitely be back. The ladies in the spa where super friendly.
