Relaxing Mountain GetawayWe had stayed in a deluxe 1 bedroom at Maple Ridge which included amenities to Rumbling Bald resort. We had an amazing view looking out to the Apple valley golf course & mountains. The accommodation was spotless & comfortable. We enjoyed going out to Rumbling Bald Lake and did the putt putt, fitness trail, scenic boat tour, swimming pools and paddle boarding. The Victory kitchen down the road does a good little lunch that we enjoyed several times as well. A lot of restaurants at Lake Lure seemed closed and the main Lake Lure Beach is only open on weekends currently where the Rumbling Bald Resort Beach is open everyday.

Lake LureVery nice resort with plenty of opportunities nearby. Only complaint was our mattress was too soft and our backs lacked needed support for best rest. Staff was professional and helpful with guidance to places of interest nearby.

Made the best of itWe stayed here 7 years ago and set out for a fall get away from FL. First, we were never informed our reservation was at Rumbling Bald and had to search out our check-in site. Rumbling Bald is lovely, but I would note that our Fox Run cabin was a bit dated. We arrived on Sunday, and Zeta arrived with rainy weather on Wednesday...no worry about a day inside. We woke Thursday am and the weather seemed to have passed when the power went out. This was a widespread outage after the storm which we understand as veterans of many hurricanes. My annoyance was that the only person we could reach all day for information was the security gate which had no information. The outage continued Friday with no contact from management as to where we might find meals or projection as to when we might get power. Thank goodness for the nearby Apple Valley store for hot coffee and two restaurants on Buffalo Creek Road where we found dinner. I would at least expect someone to check on our well-being and perhaps some provisions from a food truck or something at the clubhouse. We were truly stranded and away from home with no means to improvise. Our food spoiled and we used our points to camp out. Finally gave up on Saturday morning when we were told that power would be restored by Monday at 11 PM. We ended our stay a day early and headed home, disappointed in Wyndham and their care of owners. On the plus side, this is a lovely area.

Great VacationCentrally located to all area attractions. Yes the building is older, but the accommodations were great. Very clean. Nice view. If you do your homework, you know the amenities are a mile down the road before you book. All appliances were clean. Newer and we had no wants. I recommend it to everyone. We wanted a mountain getaway . We got one. Staff was very friendly, helpful and courteous.

POWER outwe stayed in the winter . The power went out for about 12 hours . No hot water , heat , power . The towns people said it happens often . So bear this in mind if you go . With that said Chimney rock was pretty cool .
