Great building , aloof staffWonderful historic building, great location & great gardens. Good room. Good pool. Sauna area needs updated - not functioning on 2 days of visit! Could be an excellent hotel with little updating & some application of the concept of customer service!MOST front desk staff have a minimalist attitude to guest Service. Check in staff attitude & general staff attitude seems to treat guests as irritating distractions. Housekeeping lady however was the outstanding exception - perhaps she should provide some training to the front desk staff.

Ober Bayern an alternative holidayThe Hotel is a listed building and right in the centre of Bad Reichenhall which is an excellent position to travel in the area of the vor alpen with so much beautiful scenery and so many activities for young or older guests. Our room was on the 4th floor with incredible views of the alps from our balcony, the hotel is very clean and efficiently run. Some comments describe it as being tired. My wife and I agree in part with that statement, however it was excellent value for money, but you need to shop around for deals. Would we go again, definitely yes its such a traditional quality hotel in a beautiful area you can overlook any minor wear and tear signs.

Historic charm cannot compensate for old, ran down condition and lack of cleanliness· Location is excellent. Parks around the hotel are the big, big plus of Bad Reichenhall. The city is amazing, and there are many more and other opportunities for accommodation - many villas from around 1900 have been transferred into boutique hotels. Disliked · Hotel desperately needs a major renovation!!! Everything is run down: room carpets are dirty with different colors, chair cushions are sat through + need some sewing ... Building has lots of big and deep wall cracks, luggage ramps are not stable anymore, carpet are so old that edges are bent upwards ... ALL wooden surfaces are run down by many many years. The hotel could be a GEM amongst the hotels in the pre-Alp area, but in this condition it is NOT! Besides renovation, there is a massive lack of cleanliness! no matter how old your hotel is, you can always clean it properly (I am a hotel General Manager myself!). On the picture of the window you see some shadows, which are no shadows - the windows are so dirty that I could catch it with a picture - and thats the same for most windows! Team is very unsecure in communication with guests. Amongst check-in I wanted to fill in times for breakfast for both mornings - not possible. "Somebody will ask you for the 2nd day". Nobody asked. Instead we were very! unfriendly addressed by a waiter to come back in at the next breakfast time. I understand that they have to keep some tables empty for social distancing, but but when 70% of the restaurant is empty, then this is ridiculous! After complaining, it was suddenly possible.

Once a glorious hotel, not it's a bit tiredMy family is from Bad Reichenhall, so I've come to visit them over the last 30 years. When I first stayed at this hotel, it was truly a very deluxe hotel. We were here in April 2019 and I was sad to see that the hotel has lost its luster. The hotel lobby was virtually empty and devoid of any local patrons. We used to love eating at the Axel Stube, but it's just not what is used to be. My cousin still lives in Bad Reichenhall, and he said that the locals stopped going there because it's gone downhill. He also said it would cost a fortune to renovate this once grand hotel. That makes me sad, as I'd hate to see it torn down. About our stay: We did not experience any kind of bad customer service at the reception desk. We had a huge room, overlooking the garden, and where I could see the Predigstuhl. The room was spotless. Breakfast was enjoyable, with lots of choices. We will be back again at Bad Reichenhall, but I don't think we'll stay here again. This city is so beautiful, and is my childhood home. I hope they can upgrade the hotel, though. The location is lovely.
