The perfect place to explore DartmoorWe had a wonderful stay at Wydemeet - Mary creates a warm and welcoming environment and the house is gorgeous. We all looked forward to Mary's breakfasts every morning and then getting advice on the best stepping stones/walks nearby. We will be going back as soon as we can!

Luxury stay in a gorgeous settingWith a really warm welcome from our host Mary, to luxury and comfort in the bedrooms, relaxing in the hot tub and an abundant supply of hot water for baths and showers, we loved our stay. The full English breakfast was perfectly cooked and presented, with lots of choice using locally sourced produce. We were blessed with good weather to enjoy walks from Wydemeet, with glorious views of the moor. This is not just your average B&B, and would highly recommend!

Luxurious, bespoke and an equestrian's dream!I came to Wydemeet for a 3 day luxury riding break with my partner. She isnt a rider and enjoyed the luxurious and relaxing surroundings, while I had tonnes of fun seeing Dartmoor at its best (sun and rain!). Where do I begin? Everything you read thats good about Wydemeet and Mary is true! She is warm and passionate about the experience she offers in her home. Her communication and helpfulness before we arrived was great - clear and friendly. She and her lovely Whippet/poodle Twiglet met us with a warm welcome and we came in to homemade banana bread and tea! We were shown to our room - Hexworthy, which is as luxurious as you might think. Everything you could wish for is there - from White Company toiletries and a stunning two person bath, a powerful piping hot shower and tea/coffee/hot chocolate making facilities. The bed is dreamy - with soft covers and a huge deep topper for the ultimate rest! The first evening we met Marys lovely daughter Freya who was just as friendly and helpful as her mum. She took me out on Diamond - their beautiful flea bitten 16.3hh Grey, for a riding assessment. A quick jog around the block and I got super comfortable that not only did they care hugely for their two horses (Vegas is Diamonds ride companion) but that the experience to come wouldnt be your average run of the mill hack. Mary is clearly passionate about her horses - Vegas and Diamond had been on a trail ride with previous clients before I arrived so were given a few days rest. Mary went over and above to organise a replacement steed for me of equal quality and a beautiful, forward going hunter hireling named Buster became my pal for the for me to have fun with for the entirety of the stay! He was everything I dreamed of and more - forward, loved what he did and had spirit and personality! Julie was the experienced guide who ensured that the holiday was more bespoke. This to me spoke volumes about the kind of experience both her and Julie want to offer -something that puts the horses first, that feels more like a quality ride between two friends, a far cry from the busier, commercial ventures that are out there. A great deal of thought was put into giving me a ride that was varied, at a pace right for me and exploring lots of terrains of Dartmoor. Julie is a very experienced rider and knows the Moors very well. I felt safe and looked after but ultimately like they planned, it was like riding with a friend! We were lucky enough for sun the first day and stopping for lunch at a pub overlooking the moor was just perfect. Mary even made sure my partner was there to meet us and equipped with a map and guidance for a mammoth 16km walk home! No mean feat but a great chance to see the fairies! Day two brought with it classic fog and torrential rain which fazed neither us, nor the horses. We arrived for lunch at the Plume and Feathers in Princetown absolutely sodden and there was Mary with warm dry clothes and waterproofs for our second half of the ride! So thoughtful and a sign of her going over and above - something Mary does only too well. The food was second to none - nothing was too much trouble and we felt like queens! Mary catered effortlessly to our dietary requirements and we left full to the brim! Thank you Mary, Freya and Julie (and Buster too of course!). We will be back!

What a WeekendWe stayed at Wydemeet with the Riding Holiday package and we left feeling like part of the family. Friendly, clean, delicious food (and plenty of it),a bed like a cloud, fantastic riding on beautiful horses in breathtaking scenery (definitely not your average trek!), knowledgeable guide, fun and boozy pub lunches, and did I mention the beautiful horses? Mary and her family are well worth a visit. Please don't be put off by the price. Its worth every penny! Who needs to get on a plane when we can holiday like that right here in the UK.

Book it!We stayed with Mary,at Wydemeet on the Riding Holiday Package and had wonderful stay. We left feeling like family and were both a little sad to say goodbye. The accommodation was really spacious, warm and comfy. There was certainly plenty of delicious food with wonderful breakfasts (whatever we wanted, we got) and when i thought I could eat no more, tea and crumpets after the second day's riding were most welcome. The most important part of our stay was the riding and we could not fault the routes, breathtaking scenery, Julie (our brilliant guide) and most importantly Vegas and Dymond, our trusty steeds. This was certainly not a trek and despite being a capable but not particularly confident rider, Vegas really knew how to look after me and built me up to flying over open moorland! Don't be put off by the cost. It's worth every penny and makes me wonder why we need to getbon planes to go abroad when we can holiday like this at home! Thank you Mary, look forward to coming back.
