  Perfect overnight break

  You can see how stunning the hotel is from the drive and we were very warmly welcomed at the door by Ellis who took our temperatures whilst chatting naturally. We were checked in and shown to our room in no time. The room Mullberry was gorgeous and it was spotlessly clean, you can also tell it was updated recently and it felt very plush and luxurious. The views are stunning. We went into the bar before and after dinner and were welcomed by Plarent who was friendly & chatting to us whilst bringing drinks and snacks. Dinner in the restaurant was spectacular from the bread to the dessert but I especially loved my duck main course. Breakfast the next morning was also delicious & plentiful and Raf and Ellis were great at fulfilling my specific requests. Thank you to everyone at Wood Hall for a memorable, relaxing and safe stay, I wish I had visited sooner. If you are unsure about going on a staycation during this weird time, DO IT!!Go to Wood Hall, you will be welcomed like friends, be very comfortable and feel safe (everyone was distanced and wearing masks) and feel truly spoilt with amazing service, food and drinks I cant recommend it enough

  A Splendid Venue for a'Big Birthday'.

  We stayed at Wood Hall for one night to celebrate a 'Big Birthday'. No mention was made of this before our arrival but it made no difference to our excellent experience. Without any reason to contest the plaudits below, I can be brief. All common sense precautions against Covid were taken by staff and guests and we felf safe throughout. We too found Mulberry spacious - mind you, the bed is enormous - it had a fine view and all the tea and coffee facilities you could desire, although the milk jug was tiny! The Front of House and waiting staff were exemplary and matched the food served at dinner and breakfast. I am most grateful and have no hesitation in recommending Wood Hall to all.

  Late Booking

  We had a late change to our plans due to lock down and covid and book a one night stay here at short notice. The staff made us welcome from the moment we arrived and the hotel provide a good safe environment in these strange times. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. thank you for an enjoyable stay.

  Amazing

  We had 25 acres of open countryside to walk in to start The hotel was fantastic with amazing staff and spa Service was impeccable from everyone and so polite and wantibg to make our stay as good as possible One of the nicest places I have stayed in and spotlessly clean. Would highly recommend and will be going again A massive thank you to everyone at the hotel

  Superb 6 night, dog friendly, festive break

  Outstanding is a good place to start! Having stayed here earlier in the year for the first time with my elderly dog I was amazed at how dog friendly the hotel was and so decided to look at the hotel's festive package and I was definitely not disappointed. I contacted the hotel to discuss the options and was able to select the exact room I wanted, Room 19, this is a courtyard room with direct access to the grounds, perfect for canine residents who like to get outside at a moments notice. With the dog being welcome in all areas, expect the restaurant and swimming pool, so I added on a couple of extra nights either side, which was definitely worth it. The festive package was pure indulgence, on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day it was a delicious 3 course meal with champagne and on Christmas day a 5 course lunch, with champagne and a beautiful individual festive tray platter to graze on in the evening, coupled with an outstanding full cooked and continental breakfast every morning - we did not go hungry at all. My dog especially enjoyed the Handpicked sausages each morning as she sat next to me in the drawing room whilst having breakfast. Set in acres of Woodland, there are bridleways and footpaths running directly through the hotel grounds, so at a seconds notice you can be out walking the dog, who absolutely loved the pheasants, rabbits and other rural sniffs she could find. Clearly popular with the local community too as the hotel is doing a Woodland walks menu where walkers can grab a hot drink and bacon butty from the hotel reception to enjoy on their walk, I saw many people taking this up everyday and what a great idea! Of course this Christmas was a very different once, COVID(!) this had led to quite a number of the guesting having to cancel at the last minute with tier changes, thankfully I travelled from tier 2 to tier 2 so I was within the guidance, many were not so lucky, but what I found refreshing was the Handpicked hotel no quibble promise of being able to cancel/postpone booking up to midday on arrival, in the present climate this is a welcome safety blanket for the leisure traveller and I'm sure something which travellers will positively remember when they are making their future hotel bookings - book with confidence here. So the hotel was a little short on guests, but that did not detract from the experience, the level of service and quality of food was absolutely outstanding, nothing was too much trouble for any of the team, they would always stop and chat and importantly chat to my dog, addressing her by name whenever they saw her, these little bits of attention to detail really make the team at Wood Hall stand out in the crowd. You could seen clear evidence of COVID procedures, which made you feel very much in safe hands, whilst visible the procedures were in no way intrusive and did not detract at all from the hotel experience, if anything they enhanced it. Little things that mean a lot - each day over Christmas a little gift appeared in my room, whiskey, gin, honey from the hotel bees, a selection box of Yorkshire biscuits, and the most important thing was a bone shaped squeaker embroidered with a P, my dog is called Poppy, this again shows the dedication of the team to the finer detail which made a big difference to my stay. So thank you very much team Wood Hall, in particular to those who delivered such a brilliant Christmas day service, , Baymon, Marcin, David and Nikki, but also to all the invisible team working behind the scenes, you made it a fantastic 6 nights at the end of a super tough year!
