  Lovely stay

  We stayed for 1 night in the main building after trying the tasting menu. The room was spacious with a modern bathroom and a small walk in wardrobe area. The room was quirky with low beams and a sloping floor. The bed was very comfortable. In line with most hotels the room was far too warm even after we had turned the radiator off and opened the window. We had continental breakfast which was ordered the night before and brought to our table. There was a small box of chocolates in the room which we thought was nice touch which was then lost when it appeared as a £10 charge on the bill. For future visits we would choose one of the courtyard rooms with balconies. The outside seating area looked very inviting and would be great on a summer's evening.

  Restful night after fantastic dinner

  We had a most enjoyable stay night at Winteringham Fields (see separate review of food), with 6 of us - 2 grandparents and a family of 4 (2 adults, plus 15 and 12 year old kids) in the Wintra and Burkhill Suites. Both rooms were nicely appointed, although it didn't seem that the bathroom towel rail in Wintra could be turned off or down so the room was rather on the warm side. Burkhill was particularly spacious with a separate lounge and dressing room with the former having 2 single beds added to accommodate the children. There were some nice touches of home made biscuits on arrival and high quality toiletries to add to the luxury feel. If you're eating in the fantastic restaurant here there's probably cheaper places to rest your head, but it's nice to be able to retire to your room after a digestif without having to get a taxi or drive somewhere else which for me makes the premium worthwhile to complete the experience.

  Fabulous as always

  The 8 course dinner with wine pairings was superb. We enjoyed every dish. The rooms are sumptuous and some have stunning views over the river. The mushroom linguine and wine and mackerel tartare pairings stood out for me. Then two desserts. Bliss!

  Amazing fiod

  This (for us) is without doubt a special occasion only place. As it was probably the most we have ever paid for food and an overnight stay. The rooms are lovely but it is totally (as you would expect) the food that makes this place. The service and team were outstanding throughout. We had the tasting menu, there is no other choice of an evening. The food was sublime every course was delicious and innovative. We didnt have the wine flight but we did have wine! Totally delicious and we will be back on our next special occasion once we have saved up!!

  Family Get-Together

  As a family we had not been together for almost a year as our three children all live away, we decided to have lunch here as we had not been in a long time. It was a perfect choice as we had a lot of catching up to do and we were allocated a private dining room where we could just chill out and relax. The staff were all very friendly and the level of service was second to non, the food was absolutely superb and we all thoroughly enjoyed the experience! After our meal we were presented with a lovely printed menu with the courses we had been served as a take home momento , a very nice touch. All in all a fantastic afternoon and highly recommended!
