DisappointedWe stayed in the caravan park. It is a lovely spot but many drains were blocked, the taps in the laundry only dribbled. We went on the Yura Udnyu - Our Culture, Your Culture tour. It was raining so we drove to the homestead and were told to walk around and look at all the buildings (which we could have done for free). When we go back together our guide, Vince, then gave us a brief talk about his people and the history of the area. It was very interesting but not worth $45. We went to the welcome to country and waiting 20 minutes past the starting time until someone came out and said there would be no welcome to country that evening - no reason given.

IKara Safari Tents EXCEEDED EXPECTATIONSRe IKara Safari Tents We didnt know what to expect for our first ever Glamping experience - we hadnt done much research and booked pre- COVID! But. We. Were. Blown. Away!!! Tents are Luxurious, cooled, comfortable, serene, quiet and private accommodation in a spectacular bush setting. KS bed - 5 star en-suite - wicker lounges - sheltered deck. 40 degrees outside? 20 degrees inside guaranteed 800m from Info centre, well stocked IGA, Lounge, Bar, Restaurant and Pool. Full breakfast, great dinner menu, lovely, helpful and informative staff. Tents have 2 x glasses, kettle, cups and small fridge so BYO if you want to be self-sufficient. We will be back!

Ikara Safari tents. We booked for 3 nights in a family safari tent and travelled two weeks ago. The price was high but we felt the experience would be worth the cost and they sounded wonderful. The tents are in a lovely quiet area of the camp ground. We arrived in the afternoon and check in was smooth. The tent was spacious and the attached bathroom was also spacious. The weather was hot and dry. Sadly the tent was showing some wear and tear and the front screens were badly torn, the in room safe was broken, there were loose tiles in the shower, the air conditioner was noisey and then the toilet blocked up. It took them 3 hours to attend to the toilet by which time we had sorted it out ourselves. The beds were comfortable although the single beds were a little rikety. Next morning the front panels on the tent were replaced and we were able to enjoy the view. The safe was never fixed as promised. When we returned after some sightseeing early evening the next day we found our room had not been serviced. We called and they were very apologetic and bought us some fresh towels, toiletries and toilet paper.Service staff were friendly and explained it had just been a mix up. Well next day, guess what, room not serviced again, again they were apologetic and bought us what we needed. But at $340 a night I expected a lot better! The manager came and spoke to us and was also apologetic and was going to follow up with house keeping. The food and service in the restaurant was good. Wildlife was scarce, we thought the tents would put us amongst the animals wandering around but this is not the case as the area is mostly fenced. We saw a couple of Wallabies and heard of goats. We did have ants and spiders and flies in the tent. If we go back to The Flinders Rangers we will find somewhere else to stay.

DisappointingA very patchy experience. When we phoned with a query, the customer service was great, but when we checked in, the girl at reception was surly. Our rooms were clean but very dated. The dining room staff were lovely but the restaurant was dark and had absolutely no charm at all. The dinner menu was fairly basic with only one vegetarian option (too bad if youre a vegetarian and staying for 2 nights) but the dishes we ordered were good and well presented. The new bar addition and outdoors pool area are well designed and attractive, but its obvious that no-one is looking after their presentation... the windows were streaked, the pot plants were all dead and the pool furniture was dirty and strewn about haphazardly. Nothing in the public areas looked cared for at all. I was glad that we were only there on business and not a holiday. This place is not a resort and the guest experience it offers does not match its iconic location or the expectations of interstate or overseas visitors. South Australia really needs to lift its game.
