A diamondSurprise package here - magnificent family room that had two bedrooms Excellent service and great restaurant - you don't have to leave. In fact v=everything on offer Would be perfect if it had a pool but on lovely grounds anyway. Adding some toiletries would also be useful

Convenient place to stayNow we are travelling more within our own state we decided to go to the South East for the weekend - a 3.5 hour drive from Adelaide. Our main interests were the Coonawarra wineries and the Naracoorte Caves. We booked a spa room and though we didn't use the spa the room and bathroom were both large and good value for the $144 pn we paid. The motel is dated but the staff were nice and we'd stay here again. Breakfast is available - extra charge - in the motel restaurant but Naracoorte now has some very nice coffee shops so we ate breakfast there instead.

Overwhelmingly disorganisedWe are returning interstate after a long road trip (I was going to post all my reviews once we returned), but our experience here was so poor, I felt the need to post immediately. We arrived at 4.00pm, and were told our room wasn't ready, and would be ready in 20-30 minutes. We returned at 4.40pm, and after several unanswered calls to house keeping, the receptionist confirmed our room was ready. We entered our room, to find a very dirty floor (it didn't look like it had been vacuumed), with dirt, fluff and chocolate shavings both inside and on the outside table , not to mention the filthy tiles in the bathroom. We shrugged this off as the quirks of a peak period at a small town and moved on, but what tipped us over the edge was our dinner service. We went to dine at the restaurant at the motel at 7pm and ordered shortly thereafter. The guy I gave my order to was obviously drunk, and struggled to comprehend (listen and write my order). After taking my order, he free poured some bourbon and cokes (no shot glass, and they didn't have diet / coke no sugar / coke Zero / Pepsi Max etc). After our order was placed, 20 minutes later he approached the neighbouring table to clarify our order (there aren't any table numbers, and he got mixed up). Once he clarified our order, we heard it pass it on to the main server about 20 minutes later, and in the mean time the drunk waiter continued to return to our table and the neighbouring tables to clarify orders - he clarified the neighbouring tables order 3 times, and each time we could see their frustration mounting. We cancelled our order and left at this point. As we were leaving, we watched another couple leave prior to their order. We spoke to them in the car park, and they said they had waited an hour with no food. Both the accommodation and food service appeared to be considerably disorganised, and their consecutive failings lead to this one star review... To clarify - the accommodation and restaurant are operated by the hotel.

Disappointing Stay - Buyer Beware!Location is good. It provides a quite night's sleep. Unfortunately this is where the positives end. We arrived to be told that the 2 rooms on our booking were not ready. (we arrived 1.5 hours after the 2pm check in time) We were greeted by a lady who gave me a rude look when I asked there hadn't been any communication to advise that the rooms weren't quite ready at 2pm. Not being people at all that like to cause any issues, we'd have been completely fine with this and the communication if this had happened. So we (a group of 7) all crammed into the 1 family room that was ready, to get organised for our afternoon at the swimming lake. My husband spoke to Management to voice his dissatisfaction of the lack of communication and was promised a discount in our accommodation charges to compensate for the inconvenience. This was after Management telling him that he could find somewhere else in Naracoorte to stay if he wanted to! We finally received notification over 2 hours after room the room was supposed to be ready, to say it was ready. Get into our room only to find there were only 2 towels for a room that was booked for 3-4 people so back to reception again to ask for additional towels! We paid for a family room which considered of a double bed and 2 single sofa beds. The pictures on the websites are not to scale. They have been taken with the wide lenses to make the room seem much bigger than it is - so families of 4 beware! There was not enough room for the 2 single sofa beds to be out and set up at the same time. They hit one another and didn't fit flat! I had to move furniture around to get them to fit, which meant we had no space to move freely in the room. When I went to check out, I asked about the discount that was promised to my husband, but I was rudely told 'there will be no discount because you took the bottle of wine we offered you and because your husband is not a nice man'! The receptionist then proceeded to talk over the top of me in front of other guests when I explained that the service we had received was beyond disappointing. She then cut me off by handing me my receipt and hoped that we had enjoyed our stay. We enjoyed our stay in Naracoorte and all it has to offer but will not return to William MacIntosh Motor Lodge again. The staff need a good lesson in what constitutes good customer service. I am still absolutely flabbergasted that the Receptionist had the nerve to tell a customer that her husband is 'not a nice person'.

Should be five starsUnfortunately we only stayed here one night. Wish it was longer. The motel rooms were modern with a great bed and a massive TV and the best rain shower I've ever had. Flawless internet and a restaurant on site. Although the room wasn't exactly huge apparently it's not the size that counts, at least that's what my wife tells me :-)
