A total, utter failure of a hotel ownerWe booked a villa here for a long awaited holiday with elderly parents. I emailed and spoke with the owner (Nishad) several times to confirm that the property would suit us - especially considering the limited mobility of a heart patient. I explained our situation and was repeatedly assured that everything would suit us. We were offered the best villa with a view and I was assured that the villa just had a few easy steps for access. We were also offered room service although thats not their usual policy. Access: On check in, imagine the familys shock on realising the entire property is on an incline with steps everywhere. Even to get to the restaurant. And a fairly difficult walk for a still-recovering patient. To be fair, they offered to change the villa so we picked one closer to the entrance - but it still had steep steps. Food: They were kind enough to send room service - since the restaurant was inaccessible for our parents - but the food was spicy, oily and basically didnt work for us. Too few options and the same curry rehashed. Only after I chatted with the chef in his native language did we manage a half decent meal for them. Room/ villa: The rooms and bathrooms are large, but basic at best. Spotty linen and rock hard pillows. We took a 2 bedroom villa which had ACs only in the bedrooms. So we had to sweat it out when sitting together in the living room that has a few uncomfortable and basic chairs. Like a downmarket guest house. Decor and style are non-existent. The TVs are in the bedrooms but tiny and placed too far to view. So basically quite useless especially as cricket season was on. The view from the bedrooms/ balcony was nice but nothing spectacular. And it was too hot and humid to sit out anyway. Staff: The only bright spot are the service staff. Helpful, polite and they tried everything to make our stay better. So after one night and realising that our parents would have to spend an uncomfortable week basically trapped in the villa, we decided that wed have to find another hotel with better access. I spoke to the owner immediately and explained the situation. He was sympathetic, apologetic and asked if we would leave that day. It was already evening so we stayed another night - and he said hed figure out the billing adjustment as we had part-paid in advance. So far so good. We put it down to an oversight on both sides - me picking the hotel, and the hotel not understanding our needs. Given the discomfort, inconvenience and expense of shifting hotels at short notice, that wed have to bear, we expected the owner to be accommodating. The owner acknowledged the (genuine) access problem and then told us that wed have to forfeit an additional nights charge. We were shocked! His reasoning was that the hotel could have sold the villa that we were now cancelling. A bit fresh, considering that we were the ONLY guests on the entire property since we arrived!!!!!!!! We saw no point in complaining to him about the property and its many shortcomings, since we were leaving anyway. But when the owner realised we were annoyed with this unfair charge, he then offered to give us a debit note for future use. We declined. We are never coming back, nor would we recommend Wildflower Villas to anyone. We took our custom to the Taj. Long story, but a short lesson in customer service - how to ensure customers dont become fans. Btw, did I mention that the property was deserted? And, therefore (according to the owner) the pool hadnt been cleaned. Yay! Im still wondering how on earth did this place get all those positive ratings..

Would definitely recommend!!We stayed at Desert Marigold for 2 nights and 3 days and had a wonderful experience!! Loved the architecture and the atmosphere created, with lovely lush trees. The rooms were spacious and very comfortable, with a cute verandah outside looking at the garden. The staff were friendly and very hospitable. They served us some delicious breakfast on all 3 days and a lovely dinner one night. Scooter rental services and taxi for airport is also arranged for extra money, which made our trip more convenient and easy. Overall, I cannot complain about any one thing as we had a pleasant holiday Thank you so much!!

Peace and tranquilityFollowing a birdwatching trip in northern Goa with a pretty tough schedule, I was looking for a place to relax in quiet surroundings. And did I make the right choice! Just seven villas in 8 acres of land meant that I had privacy, quiet and beautiful surroundings. Although it's only 15 minutes drive from Candolim, it's light years away from all the busyness and noise, although close enough to pop in for a bit of shopping. After eight years or so, the land is really coming into its own, realising founder Amol's dream. No chemicals, recycled waste water for irrigation, all food waste composted and an extraordinary variety of plants and trees. As a keen gardener myself, I enjoyed long chats with Amol as we toured the gardens and he explained the culinary and medicinal uses of the plants. It's a glorious profusion of growth with none of the manicured (and sterile) gardens found at, for instance, the Taj. And when I wanted fresh coconut water and jelly, a coconut was harvested there and then, while papaya at breakfast also came from the garden. along with sweet finger bananas. What I really liked about the place was that it's lovely but not posh. There's none of the stiffness of a five star hotel, it's relaxed, casual, but family run and personal, and the service is really very good. The duty manager, Dhiran, who seems to do everything bar cooking and gardening, is a wonder! He is just so helpful and does everything with a smile. The cook, Popi, turned out some great meals for me. His idli, sambar and coconut chutney for breakfast has left me with dreams of eating it again. And when a friend came to visit for the day, he produced a delicious Goan lunch. But, there's no rest for the wicked or, in this case, the birdwatcher! Now that the land has matured, it's become a haven for a number of bird species. However, this was birding with a difference. I'd spent a week working hard, ticked off almost 200 species, so I wasn't going to rush around. But what a pleasure to sit on the terrace of my villa, fresh lime soda to hand, and watch the visitors to the surrounding trees. And then, one late afternoon, after a splendid trip to Mapusa market and Panaji organised by Wildflower, I returned to find that the gardener had turned on the sprinkler and so many birds were just dropping in for a shower or a bath. The light was poor, the angle was tricky, so I saw far more than I could photograph. But it was a treat! There are plenty of photos of the villas already on this site, so I shall add a few of the wildlife and the flora. If you want parties and music, go to Candolim, but if you want peace, quiet and an ecological project in progress, this is your place. I can't wait to return next year!

The best value for money villa experience.Beautifully designed, and located in a slightly desolate section of Goa, the Wildflower villas are an experience bY themselves. Large rooms with colonial furniture and the cutest functional windows you can ever see. Large bathrooms with a semi open shower area which makes you feel youre bathing in nature. Excellent friendly staff, especially Dhiren who took such super care of us. The breakfast Is great too. I asked for omelettes with cheese and mushrooms which was not on their regular menu, but they made it for me and it was delicious. Clean, peaceful, serene, well maintained property, which Im sure visiting again.
