  The lodge needs a very deep cleaning

  We stayed here along with some friends two nights with a jet boat tour between them. Let me first say, Teri prepared a very nice breakfast for us the first morning and had to go coffee ready for an early pre-breakfast departure. She was very friendly and welcoming. The lodge is an older home that has numerous animal head trophies mounted within. It has numerous bedrooms, most of which have a private bath. However, it is in serious need of a deep cleaning and some repairs. Of The rooms we were in (3), one had no bathroom (had to cross the hall) and one had no shower only a bathtub. My bath was okay except that it was dirty. There are so many things on the walls it is no wonder it is covered in dust and cobwebs. Not ADA ..... there are stairs (steep and no handrail)

  Animal lovers beware

  If you love animals like I do, beware of this property. Look carefully at the pictures of the Lodge, specifically the living room. The entire room is filled with dead, stuffed magnificant animals ranging from a giraffe head and neck to a complete bear. I am glad I saw these pictures because if I had booked a stay at this property,I would have been sick to my stomach that I was supporting such despicable behavior.

  Gem of a Place With Owners to Match

  Brought a group of friends and family to Whitebird, as part of a tour through parts of Washington and Idaho, planning to use the site as base for a jet boat tour. The jet boat tour was exciting and fun, but the Lodge, and Terri and Frank, turned out to be another highlight of the stopover. VERY interesting folks, and dedicated to their guests - or at least the ones who enjoy genuine people living a genuine life. Terri and Frank were extremely accommodating of our early departure for the river tour, and later prepared an absolutely outstanding dinner, which led to an extended evening of conversation with two very interesting people. The Lodge itself is comfortable, with something 'interesting' around every corner. Some were Terri's crafts, some were Frank's crafts, yes there are mounted animals in the great room, but these are well done and each carries a story. If that bothers you, stay somewhere else. A wide variety of indoor and outdoor activities are available, as well as the simple beauty of the mountaintop setting. Our group included East Coast citydwellers, urban Idahoans, and a resident of Washington's North Cascades, every person found the stay pleasant, and each of us recommends Whitebird with enthusiasm. My only regret is that we didn't spend two weeks there.

  Excellent accommodations

  Great location, great hosts! Awesome decor, never a dull moment when looking around the lodge. Always something unusual to see & chat about, nice to visit a place with its unique character! I will be back one of these days.

  Its like coming home

  They are the nicest people. They did everything they could to make it a perfect experience. The beds are perfect. Soft but firm. If you love animals, this is the place to be. Its the perfect home away from home.
