Snowboarding weekendI have just spent a long snowboarding weekend in saas almagell with my girlfriend and stayed at the hotel christiania, this hotel is really nice, and the owners are really friendly. We booked it with half board, and the evening meals were excellent four course meals, we were well fed and well looked after. The hotel itself is idealy situated in the middle of saas almagell, with it being a 4 minute walk to the chair lift and 2 minute walk to the training slope. The tuition we got from the local ski school, was brilliant. The instructor was very nice and went at our pace. The tuition and lift pass were both very reasonably priced and good value. All in all, it was a great weekend, and I would definatley do it again.

You don't find many hotels like this in Switzerland!I've lived in Switzerland for 11 years, and in that time stayed at many, many hotels. Very few are as good as the Christiania in Saas Almagell. My partner and I stayed there last night, in the Saastal for a weekend's skiing. The previous TripAdvisor reviews had given us confidence that this should be an okay hotel. They were right. The hotel is a short stroll from where the PostBus drops you off in Saas Almagell. Unlike most hotels where you can only get half board (evening meal included) from three days, dinner is included. And it wasn't the normal schnitzel and chips meal; it was a really good 4-course dinner: homemade soup, butterflied prawns and salad buffet, beef ragout and nicely cooked veges, and a homemade creme brulée and strawberry icecream (yum!). I was very surprised when we were offered second helpings of everything. The manageress was delightful: very friendly and welcoming; she even offered us complimentary coffee and schnapps after dinner. The room was nice, fairly modern, clean and well looked-after, with a balcony. Breakfast was also good. For CHF80 each, the Christiania is fantastic value, especially compared to room prices in neighbouring Saas Fee. It´s an ideal base for skipping between the various ski areas, as all are only a matter of minutes away by PostBus.We'll definitely be going back!

Very nice stay in family run hotelI stayed for one night only but I really appreciated the very good and friendly service of the family run hotel. They gave us good tips for our trek we had planned and also prepared lunch bags for us. The wellness area is faboulous and we enjoyed spending some time in the sauna and in the pool. They even have a massage bed and seat. Nice balcony with view to the village. The location is very conveniant and quiet at night. The dinner was nice and good value for money as is the hotel as such. I can really recommend this place.

Very good quality/price relationAdequate room, maybe bit outdated but clean, original and cosy. Very good kitchen: we had 7 days half-pension, not a day without original very tasty menu, good portions and you can always get more. Brandnew wellness area. Friendly staff and efficient service, the owner is always around. Free bus to Saas Fee goes every half hour, in rush hour extra services, takes only 15 minutes.

Almost perfectFriendl, family run hotel. Quiet room, good bed. Excellent separate wellness area. Good breakfast and dinners. The only 2 complaints are: - major: internet is unstable, disconnects very often and stays out for 5 minutes or more - minor: why is there no table on the balcony?!
