  Had (almost) everything we wanted

  This is a nicely appointed hotel, just off a main road, close to pretty much everything. We had a two bedroom: one bedroom up in a loft, another downstairs, the beds were very comfortable, the sheets soft and the towels plentiful. The living room gave us someplace else to sit and it had a great dining table so we could spread out as we worked. The kitchen is small and we didnt attempt to cook. It seemed to have the bare necessities for cooking but we didnt put that to the test. Plenty of glasses and plates for whatever we needed. They replaced the pods for the coffee maker each morning and had decent coffee, hot chocolate, and even chai available in the lobby. So thats all good. We slept well and overall enjoyed the space. But, the little things were not so good. The layout is probably fine if you put the kids upstairs in the loft, but that was the king sized bed. Neither of us wanted to turn on a light to go downstairs in the middle of the night to use the bathroom so there was stumbling about or trying to use phones as flashlights. All would have been simpler if wed stayed in the downstairs room across from the bathroom, so maybe thats on us. Otherwise, the loft area was great. The Wi-Fi, on the other hand, was abysmal. Not enough cell signal to matter so we relied on the really poor Wi-Fi. It required us to log in again and again and again. I swear, the lease on that was minutes, not hours, and all for a very poor signal. I rarely got more than two bars, could never stream even a YouTube video. It seemed there may have been an option for a password-protected Wi-Fi connection, but we were never offered it and why should we pay for it? The room wasnt inexpensive and seriously: Wi-Fi is NOT an option anymore, no more than having a TV with cable is an option (note: they didnt have the MLB channel so I missed an important playoff game). Bottom line, the room was good and set up rather well, but they need to up their game with the amenities like the Wi-Fi.

  Great Location

  We were grateful when my sister was able to make reservations at the last minute for two nights at Waterbury Inn during a busy fall weekend. It proved to be a great location for us. We were able to head north to Sister Bay and Pebble Beach and south to Peninsula State Park for hiking. The lounge area was spacious with a fireplace, large screen TV, and complimentary coffee between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. We had a two bedroom unit. The kitchen area was small but offered everything we needed to make our own meals. A couch and two chairs worked for watching TV. The view out the window was beautiful with the falls colors. The unit had a private porch which would have been wonderful during the warmth of summer. For us, it ended up being a place to store our coolers. Now for the drawbacks. The unit had one bathroom which wasn't the handiest for four people. The downstairs bedroom had a door for privacy but only about 1 1/2' on either side of the queen bed which didn't offer much space for luggage and other belongings. The upstairs bedroom was an open loft with not much privacy but it did have a king size bed and TV.

  Such a great stay!

  We came for two nights to do some hiking, escape Milwaukee, and relax. The staff was so helpful, the full kitchen in the room was great, and the room was a great size. We will definitely be back to the Waterbury Inn to see more of Door County! They have a such a cozy feeling that makes you feel like family. Thank you for a great weekend!

  Wonderful Stay Every Time

  This is the 4th time we have stayed at the Waterbury. It is just far enough off the popular path to make for a quiet stay, but close enough to everything so very convenient. They have a gas fire pit out near the pool and I don't know if it is new or if we just did not notice it before. We sat out there one night with a couple of friends and it was wonderful. Both pools are great. Each room has a little outdoor private patio, which is great for reading or just being outside. The staff is always friendly and helpful. It is one of our favorite places to stay in Door County.

  Wonderful place to stay!

  We stayed here New Years Eve. It was great! We had a 1 bedroom studio so had a living area and small kitchen. We used the outside grill for our dinner. New grills-very nice. Beautiful lights decorated the outdoors and a fire pit with adirondack chairs were lovely! Managers took time to add special touches. The lobby was decorated beautifully with Christmas trees. We played checkers by the fireplace. Complimentary coffees available. Phone reservations and check in very smooth. Staff helpful and friendly. We would stay here again anytime.
