Great Apartment but not central location!

We booked a few nights at Warina Place for our short stay in Ao Nang. The lady on reception was lovely and very helpful however reception was only open certain hours which we did not realise until check out and having an early check out it wasn't open and we lost our key deposit, which was frustrating but not the end of the world i guess. There was 5 of us and we booked the 6 bed dorm, the whole place is spotless and well kept, our room was spacious with 4 single bunk beds and 2 standard beds. There was a spacious bathroom with a walk in shower and sliding patio doors which we were yet to figure how to open. The rooms came with free toilet paper and bottles of drinking water provided, ideal for those trying to save a bit dosh. The rooms were cleaned and restocked during our stay and we were lucky enough to be the only ones there during our stay. This room was ideal for large parties of people / backpackers and rates were reasonable with lockers per beds in the dorm (more like an apartment). The only main downfall was that it is not really next to anything and although we were ones for walking, we used to walk down which took about 30 mins if not longer passing all local amenities on the way (odd street vendor, pharmacy and 7 eleven) we generally got a tuk-tuk on the way back which were dead cheap to get from the seafront area. Barter with them though to get a good deal, two prices are rarely the same. The hotel was good with security as you could not gain access without swiping your key card at the machine and it was very quiet so ideal for catching up on sleep. Overall great accommodation but not for those who want to be central unless your ok to pay for taxis etc.

Clean, comfortable, 5 minutes tuk tuk ride to the beach.

Warina Place has the basics of all you need, which was okay for the price we paid. We booked 2 beds in a 6 bed room and had it all to ourselves for 3 out of 4 nights. It is away from the beach and very quiet. The kind lady at reception called us a tuk tuk whenever we needed and it's just a 5 min ride to the shopping street and the beach. Has a good security system where only guests have access into the accommodation block. High speed wifi..spacious room, spacious bathroom. Would be ideal if it were closer to the beach.

    Not great

In my dorm the balcony door wouldn't shut properly which didn't make me feel very safe at night. The bathroom smelt like a sewer and shower dribbled water out. Although they seemed friendly I felt quite uncomfortable around the staff as they would talk and laugh a lot whilst looking at me. The reception opening hours are 8am - 5pm. Warina place is a long way from the beach and the main strip of shops so although it is quite cheap you will have to pay for a tuk tuk everytime you want to go out. On the up side the wifi is really fast.

    Terrible

We stayed here for 3 nights in total over New Year in a large group. 2 nights for NYE, then after a few days at Railay we came back for a night. Firstly, the place is way way outside of town and the beach! We had no idea it was so far. It took well over 30minutes to walk. Although we told them before arriving that we would be around 9pm, they were closed up! The reception is only open until 5pm. The worse thing about this was the fact we then told them again that we'd be late in the evening when coming back from Railay... Again, all closed up. We had to wait over half hour for her to come let us in. With no apology or sympathy given. On the first day a friends key snapped in the door keyhole to his room, they then tried to charge him 1000THB, in the end he paid a smaller amount just to leave him alone. The place is rented out to people full time, and upon arriving, as there were quite a few of us, we were told to keep it down as people lived upstairs by a resident. This was before we had even entered the rooms! Rooms weren't that bad, but extremely basic, with a view of a concrete wall.

    Very good deal

My husband and I supposed to stay just 2 nights in this place cause we weren´t sure about the quality but after those two nights we definitely decided to extend our stay for 3 nights more. You leave your shoes in the entrance what is a very clean and pleasant space. It´s all very spacious outside and inside the rooms. They really clean the rooms and common area daily so we´ve got our towels changed, bed tied and 2 bottles of water every single day. The bed is quite big and comfortable and the pillows are pretty good so I could sleep very well. The toilet is the biggest I´ve seen after 1 month traveling in Thailand, it has a wall dividing the shower from the toilet seat what is really rare to find here. The location is not very central but I loved that so I could relax far from that touristy and bad smelled area where you find boring MC Donalds and Starbucks, but to get a scooter it´s recommendable to get the beach mainly. It´s close to lots of restaurants (I deeply recommend one called Jungle Kitchen, but booking before is required). I loved one of the staffs which doesn´t speak english very well but it´s very kind and nice!
