  Nice hotel in the woods

  A nice relaxing hotel in Thimphu. Had the hotel almost to ourselves which was both good (exclusive hospitality) and bad (scary - "Shining" like). The concierge showed us around the hotel and the monastery near by. Overall a good stay.

  Badly maintained and not all facilities available

  I forced my agent to book this hotel for 3 nights inspite of the fact that she warned me that she had not used this hotel before. The reason I wanted to stay here was because of the awesome location. No doubt the location was beautiful, but the resort was truly lacking in maintenance and facilities. Ours was the only room occupied and they didn't provide even basic toiletries (only soap) or coffee powder. The bathroom didn't even have hand towels What's more, the restaurant where we went for breakfast didn't even have the heating turned on since we were the only guests. The food options are limited and breakfast which was included in room rate left much to be desired. When my husband asked for lemon tea, we were told it was impossible. Spa was closed as was the wellness centre and hot stone bath as the lady in-charge was on maternity leave and some rooms were given to college students near the hot stone bath so that area was closed. They have a temple on the premises which I tried to visit after checked with the staff and got attacked by dogs. She should have warned me about the same. We paid 3 star prices for 1-2 star lodging. Wouldn't recommend especially if the resort is not atleast 50% occupied as I think they don't bother for single room. In reality they should have refused the booking

  For tourists to visit bhutan

  Bhutan is a lovely place to visit, staying in wangchuk resort.It is good experience,staffs here are very polite and soft. Food were also good quality,purely hygiene. All the rooms were same and it's comfortable to stay there. At last staying in wangchuk resort, it's a memorable experience...

  Stay by the nature

  Beautiful rooms, amazing staff and lots of birds. Yellow billed blue magpie, Spotted nutcracker, Eurasian Jay, Rufous Sibia, Blue fronted Redstarts were the ones i found you may look beyond and add on to this list. While i was about to check out, the lady handed me a printout containing a bird checklist for Punakha and wished me luck. (the kind gesture touched me). And i happened to see the rarest of the rare WBH in Punakha. Try hiking the way up near the forest to find more variety of birds, be careful not to venture into the forest in the heavy winter as there may be animal encounters as they decent due to the cold. Stay within the boundary, visit the monastery within.

  Nice location, but the services need severe improvement

  Positives: The location is a huge plus for this hotel. It is cut-off from the city. Their is some open area for guests to walk around. The entire hotel and the surroundings are clean. The food was tasty. The rooms are big. Needs improvement: (1) They were really slow in serving food! This was even after we called them 20 mins ahead of reaching the property. (2)The lobby isn't well lit. (3) Hot water wasn't available. After our first call, they fixed something in their geaser system and said hot water should be available in 30 mins. After 30 mins, it was still unavailable and we insisted that they provide us hot water in a bucket. Not sure why they couldn't fix these prior to arrival of guests. (4) When we had asked for white rice, they served us red rice because they had prepared it in bulk for other guests! (5) They said that their Visa card machine wasn't working and insisted that we pay in cash!
