  Solid quality and friendly service

  Priced in the upper segment with a basic but solid cuisine. I had cold Roastbeef with fried potatoes and a homemade remoulade. Good choice, red roots and a fresh salad aside, good portion and high quality. Friendly and proper service, old fashioned but cosy interior . It was worth it.

  Traditional German Hotel with the good and the bad

  Recently stayed in the Waldhaus hotel for some business in the area. The hotel is a traditional German Hotel in a traditional design. Checkin: Check in was quite straight forward without any issues. They still have the traditional hotel keys with a heavy metal key chain. It would be nice to see them move to a card system. Rooms: The rooms are spacious and well furnished. The bathroom was quite well maintained and spacious. There is a desk area that includes a radio, USB charge points and a mini bar. A nice touch is that all the non-alcoholic beverages are free of charge and replenished daily. The bed is your typical German style which means a low mattress and a nordic style duvet. But having said that, it is quite comfortable. A few negative things is that in the summer the rooms get quite warm and there is no air conditioning nor room fans. Opening the windows does not help much to cool things down. Ceiling fan in the room in lieu of AC would be a very good upgrade. As I mentioned before that they had the old fashioned keys for the rooms, when you close your room door it does not lock unless you manually do it. It is very easy to forget to lock it when you are inside the room. Also there are no Irons in the rooms and only provide ironing service through house keeping. Restaurant: This is where there hotel shines. The food in the restaurant is great. Fantastic quality, friendly service and most importantly delicious. Definitely the top restaurant in the reguon Location: The hotel is about 30 -45 minutes from Hamburg in the town of Reinbek. There is nothing special in the town itself. The hotel is in the edge of a forest. Unfortunately as I was there on business I did not have a chance to go Hiking but I can imagine it mus be quite nice. I would definitely stay there again if in the area and not in the middle of summer

  Quality as always

  Always great to be back at Waldhouse. Great service when arriving, rooms big and nice, fully equiped. The spa offers all that you need. The team in the reasturant makes the day perfect. Interesting to see who have shared room with you.

  A truly amazing and charming hotel

  Years ago we used to come here with our children and let me state from the beginning, that this hotel is as charming as it used to be. It is located in a small forest in Reinbek, but away from the hustle and bustle. You can take a nice walk in the forest, which takes you through some beautiful old houses. We had a junior suite this time. Clean and tidy. The staff is very friendly and service minded. We had dinner in the restaurant as well as breakfast. The food and wine list is adequate. For dinner I had half a duck a la Christmas style and my wife a blue carp fish, however, the fist was less tasty as it appeared from the menu. For our next Christmasmarket event in Lübeck we will most certainly stay here again.

  Disappointed

  Maybe we were unlucky, but the following is a NO GO for a 5-star hotel: - unfriendly staff at reception desk, borderline rude - hotel smells with cigarets smoke, and we got a smoking room (nobody asked if it is OK for us) - the only bar in the hotel is a smoking bar, so no chance for non-smokers to have a drink there - dry martini was served in a water glass with ice cubes and lemon... - in the suite there were 2 single beds out together with a big gap between them (it was out wedding night, so imagine the disappointment) - no drinking water in the SPA area - no shampoo and conditioner in the room. This all would be OK for a 3 -4 star hotel, but I find it unacceptable for 5 stars.
