  little heaven

  great location, lovely people(not the suffocating hospitality you find in uk but just the right quantity to make it difficult to leave), very clean rooms, lovely food. so many hiking options but you can also spend a very quite day on the premises.

  To short to really enjoy the beauty and luxury

  We only stayed in this hotel for an overnight stay. It was to short to really enjoy everything. The room was big, clean and very comfortable. There is no doubt, that we come back for another visit in the future.

  I understand why they have so many repeat guests....

  We only stayed for two nights as we were trying to break up our journey through Germany. There's plenty of parking out the front of the hotel. We weren't quite sure where to book in. The 'reception desk' has been retired and the checking in and out is done in the restaurant in the original part of the hotel. We were kindly upgraded to a suite, but has been mentioned, these are on the 4th floor and there's no lift up there! The suite was huge! We could have had 25 people for drinks and still had room to dance I reckon. Nice balcony for the morning sun. Huge modern bathroom too. Nice touch to have a small water, a coke, an orange juice and a beer in the mini bar for free which was replenished each day. Appreciated the towelling robes as well. The breakfast spread was huge. Many local fresh cold meats and cheeses. Fruit salad, prepared fruits, yoghurts. It was difficult to be restrained. We went half board (4 courses, soup, salad, main and dessert), so you make your choice at breakfast for your main course. The two meals we had were tasty and plentiful. Good choices of wines and beers. A large glass of wine is cheaper than a glass of coke. Lots of forest walks right on the doorstep. The indoor swimming pool is a nice temperature and at this time of the year we could find the times to have it to ourselves. Towels are provided in the changing room area. The families that own and run the hotel are charming and helpful and speak excellent English. It's easy to understand why there are so many repeat guests. If you want a suite, make sure you are up for the 4/5 flights of stairs. Come hungry to take advantage of the tasty meals. A delightful stay for us.

  Beautiful hotel

  Enjoyed a lovely long lunch here, food was beautiful and staff were very helpful, after lunch went to the garden and relaxed in the swinging chairs, then back to the restaurant for delicious coffee and cake. Fabulous location

  Below our expectations

  The hotel is in a very quiet and remote location surrounded by woods. Our experience with this hotel was quite mixed. You should note that the lift can only be accessed via a number of stairs. Reception by a staff member (the owner of the hotel?) was very friendly. Our room with a balcony on the first floor was a bit old-fashioned. There was no minibar, fridge or kettle in the room, but you could buy drinks from a vending machine in the hallway. The Wi-Fi in our room did not work at first but after a complaint a repeater was positioned in the hallway enabling a strong signal. It is unclear why such repeaters are not installed by default. A nice feature of the hotel was the modern swimming-pool on the ground floor. The water was well-heated. We expected a nice dinner in the large hotel restaurant, but we were very disappointed by the poor service. First, the waitress did not care to tell us that most of the dishes on the menu were sold out. Then it took her very long to bring the drinks. When she did not turn up with the food ordered after waiting for an hour, we addressed another waiter who finally delivered the order.
