Beautiful setting, average hotelBeautiful setting, average hotel Good +Nicely renovated and spacious room +Lots of storage space in the bathroom around and above the sink +Fridge in the room Bad +Mattress way too soft +Dinner food in the restaurant was boring and/or weird +Breakfast buffet repetitive, no salami at all +Restaurant service uninterested Quick and friendly check-in by Ms. Rogner (?), big spacious room, pretty view. Hotel is in a remote location. There was construction on the only road to the hotel, so the detour used forest trails that are usually forbidden for cars. The way to the hotel was well indicated and it was quite an adventure getting there! Unfortunately, construction started on weekdays at 7:45 AM with the respective noise. I did not inquire about the outside pool but I was told a delivery was expected for the pool, so I deduce it is under construction too. My room (no. 7) was a double room for single use, spacious and redone in friendly colors. The bathroom had also been redone, however there was quite a mismatch between 70s / 80s flair and recent renovations. The tap and shower rod were black and gold, the holders for the toothbrush mugs were older and the mugs had been replaced. The new mugs did not fit properly and I was constantly afraid one of them might fall into the sink. The shower doors opened into the room and thus the bathroom floor got wet after every shower (there exist sliding shower doors for that kind of shower stalls that would have been a better option). Lots of towels and two bathrobes. There was even a bag for the sauna, however the zipper was broken. In general, my impression of the hotel was exactly that: nice touches but if you looked closer, something was amiss. The sauna area was quite nice with lots of different saunas to choose from, and an outside area. Unfortunately the outdoor sauna, which was supposed to be the hottest as a nearby sign indicated, was not well insulated and I could actually feel a draught. After that I preferred the Finnish sauna and tried the gem sauna once. The showers in the sauna area had a lot of features but it was hard for me to figure out how to start the water flow. After a couple of minutes, a guest helped me, stating that he had had the same issue. Hint: you need to pull he lower round knob on the panel so that it is at a diagonal angle. In the evening I went to the restaurant. I had not chosen the half board option so I ate a la carte: cheese noodles with a side salad and a non-alcoholic unfiltered yeast beer (Hefeweizen). I got a non-alcoholic filtered yeast beer (Kristallweizen) without any further explanation but that was no big deal. My chees noodles tasted a bit like cinnamon. I wondered what might have been fried in the pan before my noodles. Any salad that I chose from the salad bar tasted bland. The waiter did not even inquire if everything was okay. My room was located above the restaurant which meant noise and cigarette smoke wafting into the room in the evening. There were no shutters or blackout curtains in front of the windows. I had read about that issue in the reviews and had packed a sleeping mask. The bed was box spring style with a mattress topper, however the mattress was so soft that I lay in an indentation and could only sleep on the side. After three nights my firm mattress at home felt like concrete Whenever people passed by or closed their door, the door of my room trembled in its hinges. When I came back after the first day to my room, the towels in the bathroom had been replaced and the towels in the sauna bad were restocked but the trash cans had not been emptied. The second morning at the restaurant there were no knifes on any table. The breakfast buffet has a lot of choices but somehow to me it became quickly repetitive, maybe because there was not a lot of different cheese and no salami at all. In front of the coffee machine there was always a queue and I was glad I dont need coffee to function. I pretty much left the same detailed review on the questionnaire and returned said questionnaire at the reception when I checked out.

Good.I stayed here overnight, very late check-in a early checkout. Location of hotel is gorgeous, getting to it a mini adventure. Lovely family host. Love is what brought us all together.. I wished the wellness opened a bit earlier..

Wonderful hillside hotelI stayed here 3 nights on a business trip. I'd advise using GPS if you are unfamiliar with the area. Everything about this place was great. The owners are very friendly, the food was great, and the saunas are a fantastic way to relax.

A Black Forest Getaway like no other! This hotel is situated up from the town and right next to the Imbrand Road in the heart of the Black Forest. This is a hiker's delight! We were able to discover the local history of the charcoal industry on the Imbrand Road, the Moosmann Cave, a wonderful waterfall, two high chapels overlooking the town, and miles and miles of wonderful trails. Next time we will investigate castle ruins as there wasn't enough time to see everything. We ended up the hike in town with a great lunch, then hiked up the steep hill to the hotel. The hotel has wonderful restaurants. The breakfast spread in incredible: Scrambled and boiled eggs, sausages, bacon, potato pancakes, fresh bread, rolls and croissants, coffee, tea and hot chocolate, a wonderful spread of cold cuts and cheeses, yogurts, fresh fruits and vegetables. The dinner menu is broad and everything we ordered was delicious. The saunas are wonderful. Robes are supplied in the room (bring your own sandals or some are available at the front desk for 3 Euros). There must be 10 or 12 individual saunas for 2 to 6 people. Japanese, Finnish, relaxing rooms etc. Even a separate outdoor sauna. The pool was large and heated, although they didn't have a separate hot tub. The staff was the best part of the experience. We were treated as family, and in the good way. Everyone accommodated all of our requests. We tried to book an additional night, but their extensive New Years Holiday/fireworks extravaganza was booked a long time ago. We'll get in early next year. The hotel itself is built with alpine charm and a plethora of artistic touches. Highly recommended.

A very nice hideoutThe hotel is located at the very end of the village after a steep drive up. The staff is very friendly, it's clean and the pool and the sauna's are very nice. We missed the whirlpool function to massage after a long day in the surrounding hills. The breakfast is wonderful arranged and all Covid-19 measures are taken. The dinner in the little restaurant of the house is delicious, but only enough if you just arrived. If you're coming from a day hiking or cycling, it's not enough by far. We can recommend the house for very relaxing vacations. The Wifi in the hotel is available but very weak and unstable.
