Perfect for families, with some faults

Vista is perfect for families with children - Very convenient! Clean and good size rooms. Skiing slope and rental is right outside the hotel, ski school with English spoken instructors (upon request) not far as well. The facilities in the hotel are great - a lot of entertainment for big and small. There is beautiful nature in the area and clean air! Breakfast in the hotel is great, buffet style dinners are ok, but the same every day and not many options otherwise, except nice pizza place at Terezka/U Slona about 20mins walk (there is also a complimentary mini bus running daily until 16:30) Swimming pool is lovely although overfilled with water and slippery tiles with no grab rails - my son broke his arm there (we had to drive him to hospital 40mins away where he received great treatment btw.), absolutely not his fault as I also nearly slipped at the exact same spot while holding small baby - the hotel management was oblivious to the fact that they have no signage and staff handing out slippery hotel slippers with no warning whatsoever. Anti-slip tiles should be used in this place. The wellness part is great with nice sauna, but very crowded late afternoons/evenings. The Sauna rituals were great! The WiFi is extremely slow and in the whole area there is no 3G coverage. The add-ons in the hotel are overpriced for the Czech Republic - double espresso for £5, and pedicure £45, but if you want nail polish you have to pay extra £6 ;)

Excellent hotel, excellent place but there are some things to work on

We really like to stay in hotel Vista and that's the reason why we return there twice per year (winter and summer). There is always amazing food, very nice wellness, excellent location and they are extremely friendly to kids which is perfect for us. There are several things where they improved and we strongly believe that it is also because of our feedback that we provided e.g. wellness or front desk service moved to the very next level and we always love to chat with them and they are always ready to help. On the flip side, there were some changes where we were not so happy and unfortunately it is related to the prices. Well, we don't mind to pay a little bit more for our 1-week stay every year but we like to have included as much as possible and if we need something else in the hotel, we expect to have some "friendly" prices there since we stay there the whole week. The perfect example is related to drinks where the prices are increasing every year and if one Pilsner costs 80CZK per standard half litre, you don't enjoy that there. Moreover they started to charge for something that used to be standard and moreover because of that, they limit the "unlimited" things - great example would be sauna rituals that they keep roughly 3 times per evening and you have to pay for that but it means that during that time you can't enjoy your unlimited wellness and that's the most important part of the day. The same is with yoga, you have to pay for that or even for swimming for kids, etc. There are some further things that should improve and we were pretty disappointed by that: - our kids used to see mamut every day there, during the breakfast, during the day, but it is gone and he is just on exercise - the pool should be open from 7am since we all are awake with he kids from around 6am and we don't have anything to do during that time - we strongly miss the sliding door from the skiing room since it is nightmare there every morning Well, I wanted to provide this feedback to the operational manager so they can work on it but I was routed just to the customer service so I didn't have a chance to talk to somebody directly :-( Dropping the rating is the first step so you have the feedback and the next step would be to move to the different hotel / place so please think about it. If you work on that, I would appreciate if you let me know and I would be happy to bump your rating back again since I like your concept and hotel very much :-)

    Doesnt work as a hotel

The place is great for kids and activities. For a supposed 4 star costing upwards of £150: - mattresses are soft, supposed pillow menu, but all pillows seem filled with shredded foam - bathroom in our room was tiny, no bath, fittings are clean, but cheap (think student dorm shower cubicle) - no consumables in bathroom, reception didnt have a clue what body lotion was - bring your own - they DO HAVE A TOASTER, but you have to ask, staff clearly cant be bothered to bring it out every morning - spa seemed always busy, probably just a lack of staff, there seemed more than enough treatment rooms and I couldnt see matching footfall; book early :) - leaving packs of pringles (and water) out with a note its chargeable as part of minibar; some would say its baiting the kids Regarding the rest: - buffet dinner is great for adults, but nearly all the options are far too complex for kids who will then try to pick out all the bits out of the dish

    Mixed feelings

This hotel has definitely potential but fails to deliver. The frustrating thing is that the average rating represents some impressive moments and some deeply disappointing ones. But from the beginning. There was a problem with our reservation when we arrived. Long story short, the hotel made us very generous proposal and all good. Great plus Great kids club. Our daughter loved it. Great activities. Big plus Spa and pool also very nice. Waiters on the bar wonderful and the management always present and very professional. So by now you are probably asking where was the problem.... FOOD Food is the most important thing for us when we travel. And I need to add that we paid 220 eur per night (2 adults and a 6yo) in low season! So there is some expectations on the half board. First the breakfast - average. No fresh cooking station, fried eggs sitting there for hours. After 2 days we struggled what we should eat. Dinners - well - the first day we arrived late and the hotel was so generous that they let us choose food from the a la card. We loved it! And we were really looking forward to the dinner buffet. Saturday night (hotel busy), the buffet was good. Nice choices. Despite the fact that no cooked vegetables there were some other interesting healthy options. Sunday (very few guests) disaster. We were literally in shock when we saw the food. Small selection is not such a big problem but the content is - everything fried, breadcrumbed, dumplings, sauces. No cooked veggies, no healthy options. On the fresh vegetables side there was every day tomato, cucumber and paprika so that became our escape. When we addressed the issue, again, impressive and very professional management approach and we were offered to eat in the restaurant and they cooked fresh for us and the food was delicious. One last point - the drinks are quite expensive. But the coffee is good and they have nice selection of Czech wines So, there is definitely a potential but for the price they charge, they fail to deliver. But this is something that can easily be changed so I have high hopes. They have great chefs!

    Overpriced

Mixed feelings... To make the long story short: highly overpriced hotel. The long story: First experience - hotel parking is not free, they charge 100 for outside parking and 200 for parking in the garage. And all parking lots of the hotel were full when we arrived. So we parked outside. The outside parking is also very crowded during daytime. Second experience - the lady manager on duty in reception was very tired and unpleasant. Rooms: Rooms are nice and big. There are power supplies under each tv which emit a strong green light, I had to pull them from the socket, otherwise it illuminates the room. Curtains are not blocking the lights at night and day. Kettle in the room is making a strong smell of plastic during boiling. Mattress is too soft... There is no air conditioning, and its pretty hot in the room during these days, until 21:00 approximately, even with windows open. Water flow in shower is really weak. In our room we had two basins, each faucet was connected differently to the hot water which was confusing. There is a drying rack which can be placed on balcony to dry swimwear. Nice. But I expect the towel dryer to function as well. It wasnt functioning. Sound insulation is ok fo walls but not good for ceiling, you can hear kids jumping above your head. Staff: First, the room cleaning service is kind of invasive, 3 out of 4 days they came about 8:30 and knocked on the door, asking when we are leaving. On the fourth day we left in the morning and got back about 14:00, to find out that room was not cleaned and the wet towels we left on the floor is remaining there (towel dryer is not functioning, remember?). So we had to wait outside to let the cleaning crew do their job. Breakfast and dinner: The staff is very nice and helpful. The food is mostly traditional. A lot of porky kind of dishes. Some is tasty some is not, but everyone can find something to eat. I wish there were more healthy dishes and less fat. Desserts are very good. A la carte: There is a limited choice, about 4 main courses and 3 dishes for kids, one and single type of beer. The food is ok, but the service is terrible. We ate there twice, the waiter was rude, didnt speak English, there was only one English menu in the restaurant! So ok, thats what google translate is for, but even this didnt help us to communicate with him. So the first time - we got a wrong dish for our son, they changed it after 20 minutes! A lot of time for a 4.5 yo kid to wait. And the second time they forgot my wifes order so we didnt get it at all! Pool: The pool is nice and clean, kids area has warm water, kids were enjoying it. The water in the main pool is quite cold, but tolerable. Warning: the tiles are slippery, in one of the reviews it caused a broken arm to some kid. My son is also slipped and fell, so keep an extra eye on small kids. The whole experience is not good for probably highest price in the area.
