    Beautiful place and wonderful hosts

Mike and Lynette immediately made us welcome in their beautiful and comfortable home. They recommended places for dinner and we decided on Maison 8, where the food was exceptional. Mike drove us there and picked us up so we could relax after our long drive from Tongariro and enjoy a glass of wine with our meal. On our way to the restaurant, Mike took us for a drive along the beach and shared lots of interesting information about the area with us. I am a keen gardener and had a lovely time looking around their garden with Mike and seeing the Pohutukawa tree (New Zealand Christmas tree). The next morning, breakfast was amazingly presented by Lynette and delicious. Her creation in fresh fruit (I won't give more away) was almost too good to eat. They had some hilarious stories to entertain us. Thank you so much Mike and Lynette.

    Fabulous 2 nights

Mike and Lynette are fantastic hosts, going above and beyond expectations. The highlight was Mike transporting us to our dinner reservation at Maison 8 (excellent choice) along the beach in his 4x4 explaining the local features along the way. Breakfast was amazing and Mike was happy to bake fresh bread for our 5.45am early breakfast on our last morning, before we left for the 9am Interislander ferry in Wellington.

    Your one of the family

We stayed with Mike & Lynette for 2 nights and from the moment we arrived we were made to feel part of the family. The accommodation was everything we wanted and the breakfast was a feast to delight. The guided tour of local attractions and the drive along the beach was an absolute thrill. Our second day was an early start to catch the ferry but Mike was up at the crack of dawn to prepare breakfast and ensure we left in plenty of time Highly recommended and we hope we will remain friends

    First Class in every respect

Mike and Lynette made something special in Te Horo. It is worth the drive to the property for the excellent accommodation and service. It is very much M&L's house but they are so welcoming that you feel at home

I wish my family treated me this well.

The owner, Mike Slee, went out of his way to help our party (two adult couples traveling together) feel welcome. I wish my family was this hospitable. He made sure our rooms were nearby and we had very ample spaces (rooms) to socialize outside of the bedrooms. Upon arrival, Mike served us a snack while we enjoyed the pastoral landscapes outside and offered to drive us and pick us up from an area pub so we wouldn't have to worry about the effects of having a "pint". Mike took time out to take us on the beach to see the wildlife and fauna on his four-wheeler twice, en route to dinner and then on our way home from dinner so that my husband could photograph the sunset. The B & B is exceptionally well designed and decorated. We had several engaging conversations with Mike and he told us about and showed us a film about one of his favorite places in the South Pacific. Mike served us the best breakfast we had in New Zealand; he is a gourmet cook. His kitchen is a marvel. Prior to our departure for Kapiti Island, he arranged for us to have a nature tour at a private park and bird sanctuary; our behind-the scenes tour was fantastic. We met an impetuous parrot named Jimmy. My husband and I have only one regret, that we stayed just a single night at the property. I recommend that people stay at least two nights here, and this can be readily combined with an overnight at the Kapiti Nature Lodge.
