    Beware - Do not stay here!!!!

    We booked looking forward to a luxurious stay in a penthouse. Only after did I see the small print saying we had to pay a 500 euro damage security deposit. We requested an early check in, but no one was there to meet us, we had to make a phone call to bookings.com to get somebody to meet us. On first impressions the penthouse looked gorgeous until you notice the broken plug sockets, broken tv unit door, bathroom bin still full of used hygiene goods and generally used. We was aware of previous reviews about not being able to make noise for fear of loosing our deposit which dampened our stay. We were scared to use the jacuzzi bath at 10pm at night in case of complaints. Upon leaving the penthouse the next day we was assured by the man that checked the penthouse over that if would be roughly a week for the 500 Euros to be refunded. After 2 weeks I contacted Peter the apartment owner who assured me it was being refunded. After more than 6 weeks later of many many phone calls to bookings.com and 2 more phone calls to Peter we finally received our deposit back. Please do not stay here, if you want a relaxing stay where you can relax and not have to worry about walking around the apartment late at night for fear of reprisal. Also it took about 30 minutes to walk from the Dam Square to the apartment, so not ideal. Also the information book explaining about the rules, built in coffee machine instructions, tourist info, etc was all in Dutch. We were also told we couldn't use one wardrobe due to the owners clothes being in there. Please choose somewhere else to stay.

    Lads 40th Weekend Celebration

    We booked the apartment in Jan 2016 and after reading reviews 2 weeks before leaving were very concerned. However, my friends and I do not understand how the ratings were so poor because apart from small minor details everything was exactly as we expected. The pent house apartment was very spacious, clean and had everything that we needed. When you arrive at your destination you expect to be able to check in, so no staff at the site (as apartment not a hotel) and having to call to arrange for someone to meet us was not ideal. Having said that, we were not supposed to check in until 3pm but we were allowed to check in at 2pm and had a very friendly welcome from the guy who showed us all around the apartment, where things were, how things worked (lights, coffee machine etc) and asked if we had any further questions. When he left we did not see him again all weekend. All of the facilities (including the TV in the bath) worked perfectly, I would only like to add that there was no iPod docking station which it did state on our confirmation. None of us 5 had any issues with the wifi at all and once connected found this to be more than decent enough. It takes around 20-30 minutes to walk to dam square / center from the apartment depending on how fast you walked and we found the taxi service to be about Eur 25 (which split between 5 was fair). There is a supermarket called DIRK about 5/10 minutes walk away where you can buy anything from beers, water, bread, bacon, milk etc to top up for your stay. We really could not fault this apartment overall and all of us said that if we were to return to Amsterdam then we would certainly be looking to stay here again if it is available.

    Great place and spacious rooms to stay at!!!

    I love to stay in the canal view apartment its a very cozy and warm place to live at during my travels to Amsterdam. The apartment is very clean and has spacious rooms. It is a great alternative to small cramped hotel rooms you can't help to feel as if your living in your second home away from your home. I like to cook my own meal so the fully equiped kitchen comes in handy and no need to go to starbucks thanks to the available coffee maker in the apartment. Very quite and nice place to relax at during thise cold winter or rainy days. Overall amazing place and i always will stay here during my holidays!

    AVOID AVOID AVOID.

    My daughter and 4 friends arrived at this hotel to be told they can,t check in until 5pm.Even thou it states on its website 3pm.They were told they had to pay 500 euros deposit which they didn,t know and it will be refunded 21 days later.Also was told they wanted to take photos of there credit cards and passports.Also mentioned to my daughter and friends they had had a lot of trouble with ENGLISH people.Damaging goods etc.I,m not happy the way my daughter and friends have been treated.They are now having to stay in another hotel at extra cost,And were told they wont get no money back.So please when you read the review take this review into concideration.Just beware.I,m sure there are better hotels.

    3 months to get security deposit refunded....

    My partner and I and another couple stopped here on the 17th of September 2016 for 2 nights. The apartment was lovely, very spacious and modern. One downfall to the apartment though was that it wasn't very clean. If it had been cleaned properly then it wouldn't have had a fault but the sides were all sticky!!! The apartment itself was quite out of the way but we didn't mind. There was a supermarket a 5-10 minute walk away and then this wasn't too far from a tram stop. A lot of the time though we just ended up getting a bike taxi or an Uber! Having to call someone to tell them when you're due to arrive at the apartment was a bit strange, and inconvenient. We had one key between the four of us. The guy who showed us into the apartment was pleasant. I'm afraid not much helpful, but very nice. There were 2 bedrooms, one double and one twin. The double room seemed to get really hot, windows wouldn't open, and we couldn't work the air con. We loved the balcony. We were a bit on edge when we were getting ready at night in case of complaints ultimately could result in us losing our deposit so that was a shame. Upon arrival I inserted my card to give the 500 damages deposit, which again is annoying, I have been to many hotels where I give my card to them or the details in case of any damages, but 500 on arrival to then be told up to 14 days after check out is absurd!! Very dodgy. I had been so hesitant to book this place because I've seen people being messed around with the deposits but I bit the bullet and booked it anyway. What a regret! It took 3 months to get the deposit refunded after sending statements over and over again and the owner giving a 'proof of refund' which was in fact insufficient proof. I ended up being refunded by Booking.com on the 14TH DECEMBER because I was angry that Christmas was approaching and still not got my 500 back! It's not just £50!! So they refunded it me and then invoiced the apartment. Dread to think how they got on with that! The owners communication skills were completely lacking if anything non existent. Even booking.com struggled to get a hold of him. Sounds like a cowboy to me... very unprofessional. Shouldn't be able to get away with that. So in conclusion, nice apartment, very unclean, very unprofessional service and DO NOT BOOK because you may think like me 'what are the chances, what can go wrong' unless you have 500 that you do not need and are not in a rush for, then do not give this man your service!! The place has potential, though. Shame. I'd also like to note, I don't think I've ever left a bad review. I find it hard to be displeased.
