    Week break in Paradise

We booked a one bed room apartment last minute via booking.com as our holiday plans had to change last minute. We were not disappointed the apartment was spotlessly clean and was obviously new with new appliances in the kitchenette, the only thing that needs to be modernised is the bathroom but this may be in the pipeline for the future. Apartment was well equipped and if we required anything the host was very accomodating and happy to help us with any requests. The views were beautiful and the pool are stunning and every time we went to the pool we were the only ones there! These rentals are amazing value for money and we were very happy with everything. Castelfalfi itself is very quiet you need to have car hire otherwise you may feel quite isolated. Most of the businesses only open 4 days of the week. Take a drive to Montaione (closets supermarkets are here and a great cafe that serves beautiful gelato), volterra, San gimignao, certaldo and a day trip to Pisa. Very good restaurant in castelfalfi and osteria san vivaldo a 5km drive away is fabulous.

This is NOT part of the "Castelfalfi Toscana Resort" - Lottery on type of property!

Firstly, I found the booking process a total lottery! Why? On the website, there are over 100 photos of a few different properties...all look pretty acceptable. When I arrived, I was taken to an apartment...just rooms and a small kitchen...no outdoor area as advertised...I'd have been better off booking a hotel room? So, you pay on arrival but you don't know what you've paid for...never experienced this before! The owner (on seeing our reaction) did kindly offer us another apartment they had (No. 64) which although there was no WiFi or air-conditioning (ceiling fans were great and the AC wasn't required), this place did have an outdoor area to sit out and was clearly bigger. However, extremely disappointed that the pool was several minutes walk away and didn't appear to be private. The sun beds were scarce (couldn't get any on occasion as all (5 in total?) were being used...in pretty poor condition. Inside was tired and old fashioned (I mean "Traditionally Tuscan" as owners like to say!) but the lack of WiFi was unbearable and the mobile phone signal wasn't great. A small (24"?) TV had Sky but reception wasn't great sometimes and no DVD player...so entertainment was very poor. The outdoor area had 1 sunbed and 1 sun seat (did have a table and chairs though) but they were of poor quality and the larger one was broken. Worth noting here is that because you're not part of the "Castelfalfi Toscana Resort", you are treated like a second rate citizen - The restaurants in both hotels were always booked (always once you've said you're not part of the resort but in an apartment!) and the only restaurant you're 'allowed' in to is the Il Rosmarino...you're not 'allowed' to eat outside as this is reserved for...you've guessed it...resort guests only! In fact even when booking this (lovely as it is) venue, the staff seem reluctant but do manage to squeeze you in. The owner was nice but I can't help feeling everything is done on the cheap - even though I paid over 2,000 for 2 weeks...even the umbrella and stand (in the outdoor area) were promotional items: 'Walls' and 'Segafredo coffee'! I personally wouldn't return here and I've visited villas in Tuscany maybe 10 times so I know what to expect...they need to 'up their game' if they want return business in my opinion.

    Verry bad

This place what we booked is a totally scam. They try to put us in an "old barn" this accomadation has nothing what was written in the advertising, no airco, no washmachine, both toilets did not work, no pool fiew... pool was 500 metres walking, the place did not belong to the property. Booking.com helped is wonderfull, and we cancelled the reservation after arguing two hours with the bos. Only what he said he can do is give us 170 euro discount, we did not accept on a total of 1800 euro's. The offered is later to cancel the reservation, what we did. Dont go there, they dont give you what you paid for.

    DO NOT BOOK HERE

Village of Castelfalfi is a holiday village, the views are stunning, but it is isolated. Attention, these apartments 'Virginio Castelfalfi Countryside' are NOT part of the Castelfalfi Toscana Resort. The pictures & description are very DECEPTIVE! Those people have a lot of different properties in the village for rent. Most properties ARE NOT connected to the swimming pool and most of them have NO terrace of outside space. A lot of apartments have NO AIRCO! Even though it is mentioned! We talked to other people, they were conned to! We booked app with airco, dishwasher, terrace... and we got an old app without all those things! Because we did complain a lot, the next evening we got a 'better', newer apartment with airco, dishwasher but again without terrace! But the bathroom was in the basement. The apartment was very wet... it smelled like basement... there is mold... very unhealthy! We asked a refund, and got.... nothing! One advice DO NOT BOOK!!! PS There is a terrace all customers can use, located in the Villa Costella. But it is NOT connected to any apartment, NOT connected to the pool. Nobody was making use of it... because it is useless...
