    Vinorva male

Vinorva. A boutique hotel. Quite near to ferry terminal one minute walk. Helping staff nice food you will get Indian food also. Reception Girls are really very helpful. Restaurant guys will cook what you want to eat. Rooms are very clean but little smell when you enter but it will be gone in two minutes when you switch on the AC and open windows. Ferry sound may be disturb you in the night. Hotel is not in male city but it is 5 minute ferry drive from make ferry terminal. Ferry service avilable 24hours. Breakfast is your choice from menu. Room service is available. Overall nice hotel. But if you want to go see male city in the evening then I recommend you to stay in male city. But you can stay here and go by ferry to male when ever you want. Pop

Down Graded to a room full of mold.

Don't even think of staying here! There was a line of people complaining about their rooms this morning. My photos should be all you will need to see. I will try and attach. First off I prepaid for a Deluxe room with Beach View and on arrival got Down Graded to a Single With Street View and very heavy mold problem. Not just odor , look at the photos. The young lady checking me in did not seem to speak much English so I just went along with it at first and thought the AC would help with the odor. It was after midnight so I opened the door and turned on the fans to air out the room. About an hour later when I went to use the bathroom I was shocked at what I found. The entire bathroom door was heavily covered with mold including sides and door jams. At that point it was so bad I started scrubbing it down to try and remove so of the odor. I ended up sleeping with the door open and mosquito's coming in all night. The young lady at reception took one look at the photos and said no one should have to live in such conditions. She got the manager on the phone and his only offer of resolution was to offer me another free night or free breakfast. The difference in the price of the down grade was more than his free breakfast offer. I did offer to split the cost of my original booking rate and said otherwise I would dispute the charges with my credit card company and leave reviews accordingly. He said go ahead and leave the reviews and dispute the charges. So here I am. I also saw room service bring a meal up in the elevator last evening and the sliced onions on the plate were Black and rotten in the middle section. I decided then I would pass on breakfast there. You have been warned. Dec. 7th 2019

Terrible hotel, false advertising, overcharged and lied to us.

We reserved via a well-known Booking site (yes we have already reported this terrible hotel to them) and we want to warn others of our awful experience staying here....read some other reviews, we are far from the only ones very unhappy. We were in transit for 36 hours, and booked 2 nights. Airport transfer - there is no pick-up or drop-off as they state, the idea is that one of the staff meet you at the airport and accompany you back in the taxi to the Male ferry terminal and then on the ferry over to the island. The hotel is next to the ferry terminal. However, despite exchanges of email and confirmation of flight details, no-one was there. We managed to get someone to ring for us and were told to make our own way to the ferry and someone would meet us there. $10 taxi ride that we paid for got us to the terminal...hotel did not refund the "transfer fee" despite not providing the service. When we queried why no-one was there as arranged we were told they thought we were arriving the next day (yet our room was ready?) and another person told us we were expected on the mumbai flight which was the same day but hours later (except we had exchanged emails with our flight details). We are not the only ones this has happened to. Room 108 - very disappointing, probably double the price on Booking than it should have been and have since seen it at almost half price. Even at $40 we would not stay again. The rooms are small and not like the photo, the bathroom is really small. The shower is "wetroom" style but in such a small room it just means all the floor is wet if you go to the toilet or use the sink once someone has showered as there is no screen or curtain. The shower has its own small hot water tank, so don't plan on 2 long showers as you will need to let the water heat up again. Our bathroom was mouldy on the back of the door. We were provided half a toilet roll and two small towels, the room wasnt serviced the next day at all so we had to ask for toilet roll. The bathroom door handle broke and my wife was trapped inside until they managed to get her out. Overcharging and lying - we booked and paid for a Super Deluxe room. Nothing deluxe about it. When we checked out, a maid had left the cleaning schedule on the counter in reception and I saw that we had been given a deluxe room, 108, and Super Deluxe were all on 2nd floor. When we challenged them on this the young receptionist shrugged, looked embarrassed and tried to tell me it was a printing mistake. I had to laugh at the so blatant lie and told her it was their schedule for that day, listing all room types and occupancies, printed by them for their cleaners. Of course we took a photo and have submitted it in support of a claim for overcharging. No-one had the authority to refund us the difference, hence we have been forced to open a clawback. The hotel knew fine well that they put us in a lower grade room without saying anything and were clearly hoping to get away with it....just lucky I saw their printout. False advertising - there is no minimart/shop on site. There is no ATM on site. The sun terrace and balcony are DERELICT - just look at the photos. On trip advisor there is a photo of 4 wooden chairs and a table on floor 5 so you think this is a sunny outside space - it is empty, nothing there, no seats. On another Booking site there is a lovely picture of tables and chairs, restaurant style, striped flooring, on 4th floor that looks like a nice place to eat - it doesnt exist! It was empty, used as a dumping ground, exposed cabling, mattresses piled up, pools of water on the floor, torn and stained plastic sheeting hanging....look at the photos, unlike the hotel they don't lie. The food in the little cafe is not bad, but its more expensive if you pre-book breakfast, half or full-board than if you just pay it directly when you are there. Supposedly it is only for hotel guests so why would that be the case? We paid $5 for breakfast, but it was $9 if we had done it via our room reservation. Other things to note - because the Maldives is an islamic country there is no alcohol available on this island (only in the resorts) and no bikinis or swimsuits on the beach. Effectively ladies have to swim fully clothed and there is nowhere to change. (Nothing to do with the hotel, just respect the local religion and culture) The 2 neighbouring buildings to the hotel are the mosque and the ferry terminal, so expect some noise. Generally the little island feels dirty and run-down and is as disappointing as the hotel. Rubbish everywhere, plastic bottles littered around, part finished construction, broken office chairs in the street, seems no-one is interested in clearing anything up......just like the hotel elevator carpet! A long and negative review, hopefully will save someone some disappointment. We wouldnt stay here again even if it was free and we remain surprised at the blatant dishonesty.

    Basic accommodation

It is ok, staff are lovely - as all the Maldives people seem to be. No one was at the airport to meet me, very elderly - limited ability & alone. The staff at the airport had to phone them twice & I waited quite a long time. Please note you go by taxi to the ferry & when you arrive the hotel is very close. The ferries run all night which may disturb sleep. The beach close by is only for Muslims - the women go in fully clothed. But there's a lovely coral beach 10 mins walk away, not crowded at all I had it to myself first time. Tropical fish in the sea. I had a couple of days at Vinorva Green - went by speedboat, same problem no one met me! I ate at a backpackers place opposite ( name like Alepo ?. The walk to the tourist beach I found a tiring trek in the heat. Went on a 10 min speedboat trip to Guilia ( Julia ) island for the day, gorgeous beach there. In the end though I got to like around the Vinorva hotel !
