Afternoon Tea special birthday celebrationI would like to give you some feedback from my first ever visit to The Vincent for Afternoon tea. Customer service was really poor. On arrival we were seated, waited quite a while until I signalled to a waiter as we had come to the conclusion no one was going to come over to us , who after finishing taking an order came over to us . I explained I had booked afternoon tea and could we have it with Prosecco, we asked if coffee was included he went to find out that was fine. The twice we requested drinks I had to catch the attention of a waitress, not once did anyone come and ask was everything ok, did we require a drink ! The afternoon tea its self was mediocre nothing special, scones were well over cooked and hard . We felt for £80 the food and experience was extremely poor, we had bought our mother out as a treat for her 80th birthday and really had expected something a little more for The Vincents reputation ! Cancellationwe recently booked the Vincent hotel, an overnight stay for the 30th-31st of December. We travelled for business purposes from Scotland and having received a phone call on the evening of the 29th from the Vincent Hotel to confirm our booking, pay extra for car parking services, breakfast and book a table for an evening meal. We travelled down to Southport from Aberdeen needing a break before heading to Plymouth. On going to check-in the receptionist announced our room was cancelled due to 'Tier' change announcement. When asked why we had not been contacted and informed of the the cancellation the reply was my telephone number apparently was the wrong number .. as stated earlier they had called the evening before to arrange extra charges and my number worked fine then, the journey to the vincent had added another 45 mins to our travel time. The hotel was far from empty and no offer of compensation or enquiry as to whether we would still require our evening meal. It was a case of ' you booked through Booking.com its up to you to arrange your refund". not the service I expected.

The Restaurant is Dreadful...My wife and I have eaten at the Vincent Café fairly regularly over the years with friends and enjoyed every meal and occasion there. From our experiences, it rightly earned the numerous accolades for its high standards of food and service, including recognition as one of The Times' top 10 coolest restaurants in Britain & two AA Rosettes. Given the current covid situation causing us to be on our own at Christmas and our very enjoyable experiences there previously, we decided to book with Vincents for Christmas diner. When we arrived we were greeted with the usual friendly welcome and shown to our table with much anticipation. Whilst we were settling in I noticed the cutlery wasn't clean, with finger marks all over the knives and a couple of spoons. I called the waitress over and asked her to change them. She did and apologised, but before the waitress returned I noticed the side plate was greasy. I brought this to her attention. She apologised again and brought clean plates out. My wife and I remarked this was not a great start to our Christmas dinner, especially in the current climate. Our first course arrived and the waiter remarked how hot the plates were and they certainly were. We carefully started our soup and both of us looked at each other and commented that the soup was just lukewarm. We again called the waiter over and told him. He apologised and brought hot soup, which was tasty. After we had finished the soup, our main courses arrived but they were not of the high standard that we were expecting. The turkey was 2 slices of what appeared to be pre packed turkey slices, certainly did not look to be carved from a freshly cooked bird. There were 2 undercooked sprouts, 2 roast potatoes, a quenelle of mashed potato, a slice of what I would presume was stuffing and a few other vegetables. All in all, a very small and poor plate of Christmas food. The desserts were nice and we enjoyed them. We then asked if we could have coffee at our table and were told that would be fine as we were the last diners for that table. However, the advertised mince pies did not accompany the coffee. The meal and the occasion certainly didn't come up to the usual Vincent's standard. Also, value for money was very poor indeed and to be given such unclean cutlery during the Covid situation was appalling. I sent this review to Vincent's and not had a reply, disgusting.

Absolutely nothing COVID secure about this placeVisited for a meal out with my husband our 3rd meal of the year together I was absolutely disgusted. Waiting on staff wearing visors no masks standing over tables so basically forcing their breath down on you. One staff member potentially a manager sitting and mingling with tables with no mask so much so I thought she was with the first party she was sat with then she moved to 2nd and talked about sitting out back so that was when I realised she was staff. Various tables of non same household mixes table of two couples and elderly lady who let a girl from another table come sit with them. Two obviously regulars think it totally acceptable to leave their table not wearing a mask whilst chatting the two girls on table next to them up and breathing all over everyone. If you want Southport to be back in tier 3 or even tier 4 visit here for a complete non Covid secure experience wont hurry back
