Boutique hotel in Arcachon in residential areaProbably the most boutique hotel of its own charm in Arcachon, located in a residential area named "Ville dHiver" (Winter city), surrounding by spectacular 1830-1900 bourgeois mansion. Although restaurant was friendly, our arrival experience was OK, could be better and more warmth. The location of this place and the layout of hotel rooms have it's own history. The rooms are small (20-22m2) but well appointed. We booked a ground floor room but we were assigned a basement room with nice outdoor patio. They should improve their hotel description and layout on their own website. (-) points: - There were no welcome amenities in the room despite $$$ price and no minibar as well. - No telephone line to call reception, - Basement location very narrow for big luggage (no bellboy) - Parking is very limited (4/5 cars) (+) points: - Bathroom amenities were of great quality, - Room decor very well designed for space, comfortable bed, - Soundproofing is excellent. - Restaurant is casual on circus vintage poster theme, offer great breakfast, and dinner. Lots of choices a la carte. We are recommending this place for it's location and zenitude.

Absolutely charmingThis is the place to go to if you value authenticity. The hotel is set in a very old building and has a lot of charm. The decoration is very special and unusual. It is located a bit away from the beach, in a quiet residential area, and has nice gardens and a swimming pool. Our room was ground floor (or half basement) and rather dark (we had to turn on the light during the day), but with a nice sitting area outside. The bathroom was amazing, all in old wood and looked like an old boat. The bathtub didn't have a curtain, though the bathtub was extremely comfortable. Breakfast served on the terrace excellent, as was dinner.

Aggressive experience which the owner should be aware of.I'm a 49-year-old women. I went to the hotel by myself. Beautiful hotel. A haven of peace. Beautifully decorated with a fabulous team.Beautiful pool. I spent a wonderful morning at the bar one morning when I happened upon the hotel by surprise. The next day I arrived and enjoyed a coffee at the bar. I then went into the garden. It was a very emotional day for me since I was morning the loss of dear friend who died in a coach accident aged 19. I retreated myself into the garden and medidate and stretched. Paying attention not to attract attention of the other guests. I walked back through to the bar, bare foot, oops. Big mistake. The 'gérant' thought I was a vagrant and called the police on me. All of a sudden I was asked where my 'shoes' were when the police arrived. I had no time to explain that I'd booked two massages, a lunch and dinner the next day. I was asked if I had a room at the hotel. I didn't. I walked away. Apparently he was the 'boss'. A person of limited character. Very bad recruit. I took a room a week later to see how things would pan out. Lovely massage. Great swim in the pool. He of course recognised me. No acknowledgement or apology. He didn't know what a darjeeling tea was for God's sake. Greying hair, I'd say around 45-55. Probably north African origin. Pathetic bully. As long as he's there, I'll never return. So sad, because the other staff were just lovely. He doesn't deserve his job. If I were the owner I'd fire him without question. He terrified his staff and created a drama out of nothing. Fortunately there are so many other places in this world where I can spend my hard earned money and be treated with respect. Perhaps if I'd been in a couple or with teenage son I would have been treated differently. Disgusting behaviour. Again, my message to the owner is that he doesn't deserve his job. I've never been so humiliated in my life. I didn't have the time to explain myself and his terrified staff weren't able to defend me either.

Amazing hotelWe arrived and found ourselves in, what felt like a tea plantation building in India or Sri Lanka with wonderful shrubbery surrounding the buildings a great decor and not what you might expect on the west coast of France. Very good service, clean and very comfortable room. It did have a part sunken bath so not sure how a disabled or elderly person would manage. However I think there are rooms with showers. On the first night we had dinner in the hotel restaurant and were very impressed with the food and service. A very good menu. The restaurant was busy with non-residents so worth booking a table. The breakfast was good too.
