  Good hotel, great selection of food, staff keen to please

  As long as you have realistic expectations you will enjoy your stay here in paradise. If you need luxury you would need to go elsewhere, if you would like to be comfortable and well looked after with a good selection of food during breakfast, lunch and evening meal - then give Villas Mon Plaisir a try. For us we were not off to the best of starts initially after travelling for two days due to a mix up between the third party booking agents & the hotel, quite frustrating as was a 04.00 arrival at the airport and a 06.00 arrival at the hotel - the reception isnt 24hrs we werent expected so the security guard ushered us in to the bar area where we had to wait, unfortunately the mix up didnt get rectified for some time so we didnt get a room until 09.15 when in reality we had booked one upon arrival as noon check in wasnt suitable for us with such an early arrival (yes two tired and grumpy teens also) this room ended up being temporary as our room wouldnt be available until after 14.00..such a disastrous start we didnt initially feel welcomed by the hotel at all as like us, they too were irritated by the third party mix up but I do think the hotel could have handled the situation better. We had to swap the rooms over the following day and tried to switch off from the poor start to make sure it didnt ruin our holiday. Check in drama aside, we actually found all the staff we came in to contact with afterwards friendly and helpful, porters, reception,restaurant and bar staff and groundmen - housekeeping did a great job at keeping our room fresh and clean and the food was good always a wide selection, we had chosen to go all inclusive. Be prepared not to rely on WiFi access as unfortunately the WiFi isnt strong, you can just about get Reception in the bar, breakfast dining area and poolside, we werent able to get any reception in the bedroom, this was difficult for planning purposes as needed to research, arrange and book online, as long as you dont need to rely on it you will be fine. The alcoholic drinks are made much stronger than back home, if you enjoy single/double measures with your mixer i suggest you ask for an additional mixer as it will be needed! I enjoyed the villas mon Plaisir house cocktail and mojitos mostly. Ok so what to squeeze in during your stay in paradise, we booked three tours in total, the rest of the time was spent at the hotel, relaxing and making the most of the all inclusive option during our long week visit. Firstly we went on a tour of south west Mauritius; this included visiting the seven coloured earth in Chamarel, Chamarel waterfalls where cheeky monkeys roamed free in the trees, the rum distillery, black river peak, troux aux cerfs the volcanic crater. The second trip was a boat trip to ile des deux cocos and the final trip was a catamaran trip around the east coast to ile aux cerfs and up the estuary to the grand river waterfalls. I honestly cant pick the favourite day out of all the trips as they were all so different and unique in their own way the trips absolutely made our holiday we had the best time enjoying as much as we could whilst we were over here. We found it to be a very quiet resort when we visited in April I think most must use the hotel as a base, this worked well for us as we had full access to the best positions around the pool and it got quite competitive around the table tennis area (just requests bats and ball from reception) the table was a little warped from being left out in all weathers but that just added to the challenge as it wasnt always known which direction the ball would go in after it had bounced on the uneven surface ;)

  Beautiful beach view with supportive staff and good food options

  The biggest worry for us before visiting Mauritius was the availability of vegetarian food options, but we made a good decision by choosing Vilas Mon Plaisir for our stay. The restaurant staff were really amazing and much better than one would expect. Ram from the restaurant was really friendly towards Indians and personally ensured that everyone would eat food by their preferences. He would personally tell us about all the vegetarian options in the buffet and also separately serve us roti, daal, sabji and rice (if these items were not a part of the buffet) You get to enjoy a beach facing dinner and breakfast at this hotel, breakfast had a good collection of fruits among other choices for breakfast. This hotel also provides 4 water activities : 1. Kayaking - can be done by 1 person (only for swimmers) timing : anytime between 8.30 am to 4 pm. 2. Pedal boat - for 2 people (non swimmers are also allowed) timing : anytime between 8.30 am to 4 pm. 3. Glass bottom boat - happens in a group at 11 am. You get to experience some really good multi colored fishes in the middle of the sea. 4. Fish Snorkeling - for swimmers only. They do not provide good assistance for this activity. The hotel staff was really cooperative and helpful in all ways, they provide beach towel for your island visit and also ensure you have no troubles with room cleanliness amenities.

  Nice place, good location

  The biggest advantage of this place is the access to a beautiful beach. Though its a public beach it is mostly used by the guest at the hotel. The place is modest and simple covering all the amenities. Most importantly it is a clean place. The staff is cooperative and honest. The food I would say was average however it does take care if any special request if you have any and has a wide spread buffet. This place offers free water activities and keeps you entertained by arranging performances. It is located at a place where you can step out for quick shopping and local eateries. I would definitely recommend this place, if you are looking your own simple villa type rooms.

  Recommended for family, couples, solo travelers

  It was really the best experience ever starting from the nice friendly stuff, food are always fresh new super delicious and every night different kitchen Indian,Mauritian, Chinese. Free kayaking location.

  short term stay

  We stayed at this property for 3nights 26th-29th February 2020. This property has recently been extended and renovated. Rooms are nice and clean with a genorous sized balcony. The grounds are nicely done and very relaxing with a nice swimming pool. The staff are very friendly and helpful, especially at reception where Karishma and her colleagues gave excellent service. Meals are excellent and very reasonably priced. The only drawback we found was that the tv only had limited channels mostly French, which wasn,t much use to us English speakers. All in all a very enjoyable short term stay.
