    After adapting a great stay!!!!

For me and my family, this was the first time we went to a villaggio, and I have to say we needed some time to adjust. To be with around 1500 - 2000 people celebrating summer holidays is new to us. In the end, we were sad to leave the place and look back to a nice relaxing week. We chose to go to Villaggio Torre del Faro, because of what we had heard from some of the people who knew both Torre del Faro and Magna Greca (our other option). I think we made a good decision! We (2 adults and a five year old boy) stayed in Torre de Faro from 2 - 9 August. Although the place is quite popular with fellow Italian travelers, it was possible to make a reservation by phone one week in advance. Information on the villaggio can be found at their website: http://www.villaggiotorredelfaro.it/new/. The reservation process was very efficient, I was assisted by Katia, who promptly sent me a confirmation. At arrival, the check-in process proved to be a bit less organized; At reception I was told to go to another place to do a pre-check in. There I had to provide some details and I was given a number and told to wait until my number was called, after which I could go to the reception. In the mean time I could purchase credit for the bar, which I received on a kind of credit card, for which a 5 deposit needed to be paid (make sure you empty your credit, as there is no refund for the credit on the card, you will get your 5 back :-) ). I also could subscribe my son into the mini club.In the end I waited (with a few other people you can imagine!) for about 30 minutes, until my number was called. Check-in was very easy, I received my key immediately. In all, I think this whole process could be much more efficient; the information which was asked could have been asked (and some was also asked) at the time of reservation. I also was not impressed with the fact that there were no hosts guiding me to the right places. I had to ask other guests where to go to. The rooms are good, including a safe, a fridge, A/C, and ceiling fan. WIFI is only in the restaurant, bar and reception area, coverage by the mobile provider is not good, the connection is very slow (I used the vodafone network). Cleanliness of the room the first day was OK, it seems that the room was cleaned in a hurry, and was not 100% clean, the rest of the days the room was cleaned thoroughly. In all, for the arrival part the Villaggio could have done better, I had some doubts if I was going to enjoy my stay. The arrangement of the villaggio is that you stay full board, so you will get three meals a day, and prepare to eat a lot. What is on offer is of good quality, and abundant. The set-up is a buffet, so sometimes you have to wait in line for what you want, which is understandable when 2000 people are eating at the same time. wine and water is complementary. There are loads of activities to do: horse back riding, sailing sports, etc. etc. I was told that per day there are 40 activities. Kids will love the place, there are specific activities for them, with dedicated staff. In the evenings there is always a show, starting with a show for the kids. Pasquale and Jacobo needs special mention, they get the crowd going with their relentless energy. I wonder where Pasquale gets his energy from, he is every evening top! Following the kids spectacle, there is something for the adults, theater, or musical, or a sing-a-long. The 'animatore' do a great job, The quality of the stuff is not what you see in the normal theaters, but that's not what you expect. They are entertaining, full of enthusiasm, and are dedicated to satisfying the audience. My respect for 'animatore' has grown immensely, they work from 09:00 till 02:00, always with a smile, never invasive. Kids love them, you see animatore being hugged by kids all the time. After the show, the party is 'on' most of the evenings at the bar at the swimming pool. For those of you who do not speak Italian, your experience will be less, as the villaggio is geared towards the Italian audience. On the other hand; if you do speak Italian, a villaggio is a must to understand Italians better! In summary: I had to adapt a bit to the villaggio life, but enjoyed my stay in the end very much, and was sad to leave. My family is already talking about returning next year!

    Lovely place for families.

Today is our last day in this village. We spent a fantastic and sunny week in Torre del Faro. All the specifications during our booking were confirmed on place and my review can only be positive. The village is extended in a wide and savage area just 300 mt from the beach. Great olympic pool and smaller one for Kids. Quality of food is enough good for the thousands of people and though the serving at buffet is little caotic you never have to wait more than 2 minutes to get your main dish. All the rest is self- service until you can eat. Organisation is fine. Perhaps not the right place for relaxing as crowds are rather noisy at sea. Rooms are clean , rather spacy and silent . I would suggest as I said for families with small kids..not for who wants a quiet holiday.
