Friends that are family without the complications. This is the UK at its best. I travel 1500 miles a week with my work. I stay in all sorts of accommodation, meet people from all walks of life but have yet to find a more welcoming and genuine "home from home" Bev, the proprietor is not only the hardest working, caring and nicest person I have ever known to be in charge of a business but she also runs a team who are not only a credit to her but are just 5* in every way. If you want Waterford Chrystal and false recognition of your own importance there are other establishments in this wonderful location that will inflate your ego at a price I hope your credit card will honour. If, like me , you are a follower of true life and respect dedication to allowing guest and clients to just chill and enjoy good food, good company and great service that makes "muddy paws welcome, well behaved kids and responsible parents tolerated" please do not try to book room 1 because that is ours. Thanks to all the team for a truly wonderful Christmas and we will see you soon Wizzy XXXXX A truly heart felt thank you and all the very best wishes for 2020 to each and every one of you.

Brilliant Pub!Visited a few times on our trip to Lynmouth. Once for a few pints, and then for a meal. The meal was superb, my partner had the Steak and Ale Pie and I had the Lamb Shank-the portion sizes and quality were superb for the price. Great hospitality and atmosphere.

Lovely meal with friendHaving read some of the reviews I wonder if we went in same pub. We visited 12 August at lunch time. We liked the feel of the place and decided to eat in the bar. We had lamb shank x 2 and our friend had salad I think. It had Stilton with it on menu which our friend was intolerant to so we asked if it could be substituted with another cheese which they did. We didn't have to wait too long for the food and it was lovely - vegetables nicely cooked, lamb delicious and good sized portions. Desserts delicious as well. A good pub in Lynmouth where you don't have to take out a bank loan to get a drink or a sandwich!!

Sensational - exceeded expectations at every turn - shout out to Domino, the heart of The Village Inn!A revelation! My partner and I visited on busy bank holiday weekend, on the Sunday evening our tea ration had been lost but it didnt phase Domino who greeted us superbly like wed been friends for life! The welcome was heartfelt, reassuring and simply fantastic! Domino got us drinks then guided us to a carefully distanced table juggling customers but giving everyone plenty of time - wed feared chain food, our fears where wrong. Hearty home cooked large portions, a generous vegetable dish - home cooking of the best order. But Domino, with Domino we met a kind soul whos guaranteed to guarantee our return. Photographs dont do this justice - everyone like us must have been having too much fun soaking up the atmosphere, talking to Domino and enjoying the greatest of pub grub!

Our holiday localwe used this pub on a 2 night break. It quickly became our place to go for a beer while we were here. Gary made us feel so welcome. We only managed to eat there once as it was fully booked on our first night. Managed to get a table on our last night and the food and service was amazing. Thanks for recommending the lamb shank as it was superb. Next time we are down (March hopefully) we will be heading straight here for a beer and food.
