A terrible time at Villa Rumba...

My Boyfriend and I booked Villa Rumba through easy jet. We wanted a cheap holiday to Croatia just to have a nice time away and have a fun yet relaxing holiday. When we arrived at Villa Rumba we were very disappointed. Firstly to get to any shops it was a 45 minute trek down the side of a mountain (I kid you not, after looking in to this we discovered we were about 355 ft above sea level). On the way down or up there were loose dogs following you and barking, no past to walk along so you had to walk on the road. They advertised a reception, but on arrival the place was locked and deserted. We eventually found the owner who couldn't speak english and let us in our room, this was after waiting outside in the rain for 30 minutes. Our apartment was very spacious and at first we were happier. However there was no toilet roll, no soap, no washing up liquid. There were loose wires in the bathroom, the shower curtain was yellow at the bottom and mouldy. We decided to take a look at the onsite facilities advertised as, outdoor heated pool, gym, restaurant and hot tub. There was no restaurant, the gym was close, the pool was empty, and the hot tub was filled with stagnant water. I have pictures to back all this up. We spent one cold night there and left. We found alternative accommodation in Split and enjoyed the rest of our holiday.

Nice estate with a wonderful view

We were a group of 23 persons and we rented the whole villa (7 apts) for a week. This estate is located very far away from services but we didn't mind it because we rented a car and the main idea of this holiday was to spend some time with family/friends (and celebrate birthdays!). Villa Rumba is located about app. 150-200m above the sea, so the view is just wonderful! However, the walk down to the village is about 2,5km (curvy road)... There is a small shop about 10min walk from the villa (up to the mountain), other shops/supermarkets are located at least 3-4km from the villa. However the owner was very helpful and whenever we needed something, he helped us to get everything. And since we had the rental car, it was easy for us to go for shopping. Owner also made us two dinners (traditional Croatian food) in the villa for very reasonable prices. So in my opinion, this a great place for bigger groups to spend some time together. Just don't hesitate to ask the owner, if you need something! He is very helpful and friendly and has reasonable prices. The only problem is that he does not speak English. He understands it, but speaks only Croatian and Germany. However, he has a son who speaks English, so he can help with communication. Great place, worth visiting! :)

Nice place - not everything in place!

Family of 21 staying a week in Villa Rumba; you do need a car - an someone who can communicate in german (or croatian)! Villa Rumba is situated about 350 meters above sea level, so the view is great, but the hills are steep and the road is terrible. At the time we were there the jacuzzi never worked, though the croatian/german speeking owner/administrator assured us that tomorrow... The swimming pool was nice and refreshing, the air-condition cool and rooms ok. No toilet paper (buy your own) and no change of towels. A couple of episodes with loose dogs who came to visit us was not very pleasant - but they did us no harm. If you want to stay nearby the beach this is not the place to be - but if you are a large group of people that want to stay together this is a fairly nice place. But be prepared to rent a car or find a taxi willing (and able) to take you to and from at a reasonable price.

    Home away from home

This is one of the best places we have ever been to. The phrase "home away from home" is true. We looked for a house out of town to have "slow vacay" experience and we definitly got it. It was our first time there and for sure it was positively memorable. The Host was incredible! It was always easy to contact them in person or via whatsapp. They welcomed us with open arms and we could feel the unfeigned warmth and will of providing a pleasent experience to the guests. They also helped us with the airport transfer, organization of our excursions and time in and outside the city. The place can fit 20 people easily. Hosts greeted us when we arrived with some snacks, wine, beers in the fridge and a few items to prepare a breakfast in the morning. We did not expect that and it was a really nice surprise. The place was really clean, we could not complain about that. The host took care of cleaning it and replacing the towels every few days. The house is placed in a quiet residential area. There were plenty of restaurants, shops, bakeries down the beach. Not far away there was a market offering fresh food and fishes. It was fun to shop around and taste great local products! Overall we really recommend Villa Rumba. We'd gladly visit that place again and spend even more time there.

    Nice, but not top class.

The property is situated high up in the hills over podstrana. It took us 30 minutes to walk down to the beach, and 45 minutes to walk back up ( with a baby stroller). Rental car is recommended. the exterior and outdoor area is beautiful, with plenty of space to relax ( lots of stairs though). The advert had a picture of a football-pitch on it, but this (apparently belongs to a neighboring property, and cost appr. 100 extra for the week. This was well worth it though, the kids loved it. The housing itself consists of 7 apartments with kitchen, and they were all spacious. the houses were a bit cluttered, and seemed to could use an upgrade. There was supposed to be a washing- machine on the property, but there was not. the landlord had instead arranged for a laundry service, and this was fairly cheap. The kitchens had very little equipment, and there was no such thing as toiletpaper, and no towel-change. All in all, fairly OK.
