    Increible

Un lugar impresionante, las habitaciones y la ubicación especial. El desayuno muy bueno y particularmente la atención del señor José, un empleado con constante atención al residente y muy buena predisposición para todo. Por personas como el, se engrandece el lugar

    Positives outweigh negatives

On a trip down the PCH we found ourselves in Santa Barbara. We found this place and they had a room with a second bed upstairs in the same room so my kids could stay up there. First the positives-great location. We wanted walkability to pier and restaurant for our quick stay. Great little shops a block away and the pier was easy to access and so much fun. Other positives were outdoor hot tub and patio in our room, great hot water in shower, helpful staff. Negatives-room smelled (like old carpeting) so we used our travel Febreeze which helped immensely. Also no one seemed to know when breakfast or coffee would be ready. As of 8am nothing was available and when the first staff member arrived she had to rush and put things out for waiting guests. Bagels and coffee were nice but we grabbed in a hurry to catch a flight. Another negative was fridge in room froze our food leftovers from dinner so kids couldnt eat them when them got hungry late at night. Appliances are very dated and bathroom small but overall a quaint place. If they had breakfast ready earlier we would have given 4 stars.

    Lovely haciena feel

We met family for a few days and came by train. This Hotel is very close to the depot and so convenient to the restaurants on the pier. We also went to the zoo and were able to catch the shuttle at the end of the street. Our 10 year old grandson loved the pool and spa and wanted to stay longer. The staff was so helpful and sweet to us all. The hotel is old,but we found it inviting and comfortable.

THEY MADE THE BEST OF A VERY STRANGE SITUATION - COVID-19 TRIP

As a travel advisor I have seen and experienced a wide variety of hotel experiences all over the world. I have learned to make the best of some bad situations. I made a reservation at Villa Rosa with my credit card points. I didn't know at the time, but the online booking engine for this was Expedia (ugh!!). I chose the Villa Rosa for location and points they were requiring. On the drive to SB from LA I got a voicemail from Wade at the hotel advising there was major construction going on at the hotel but that they had given us a completely renovated room over the courtyard. There would be no breakfast included and no reception at which to check in. Once we got there, Wade showed us the room, which was darling with an outside balcony over the courtyard/pool and totally remodeled. But, the hotel itself was crammed with furniture from rooms, housekeeping were working in many of the rooms, construction workers were there working on other improvements. At this point, I had not told Wade I was in the travel industry. He offered us a room at their other propety, the Ala Mar which is where we had to check in. But the room was not nearly as nice as the one in the Villa Rosa. There was nothing he could do to get me back my points since the ultimate booking site was Expedia. But, what really, really impressed me was that I was offered a future night's room complimentary for the fact that on the booking site I used there was absolutely no information about the work being done at the hotel. Turns out they were not even officially opened but they honored our reservation (which they could have refused) and certainly made up for it with the offer of a future complimentary stay. The hotel owner has taken the past 3 months to completely renovate this property and it will be awesome!! once completely done. We were able to use lounges by the pool. the location cannot be beat and Wade and his team offer the best service. I highly suggest giving this property a try. It is due to re-open fully refreshed I think around early to mid July. Linda L - Los Angeles

    Absolutely Do Not Stay Here

Aside from its location, there is no other reason to stay at the Villa Rosa. I had no hot water or WiFi during my stay (which I needed for work and only book hotels that offer free WiFi). When I told the front desk, the girl was very understanding and gave me the managers contact info. I called the manager and left a voicemail that my hot water and WiFi wasnt working. 4 hours later I still didnt receive a call back so I called and left a message again. Still no call back so I finally texted her and she called me back 6+ hours after I originally tried to make contact. When I spoke to the manager (Tia) she told me that I was lying (I wasnt) and that she doesnt like renting to people who dont expect to pay the bill. She also told me I shouldnt have showered if the water was cold and it mustve not been an issue if I got in. The staff was kind but the manager of the hotel was so rude and condescending I would never support this business again. And I strongly urge you not to either. There are so many great places in SB that have WiFi, hot water, and kind staff - my advice would be to search elsewhere.
