Not a pleasant experience. To an extent, TUI miss-sell Villa Orange by claiming it is a hotel, when in fact it is an apartment block; a holding-pen for the Selena Beach as another disgruntled guest phrased it. There is no lift, no safety deposit boxes, no bar, no reception area worthy of the name, no left-luggage area other than a public walkthrough, and the satellite TV is so grainy as to be almost unwatchable. There are no snacks available around the shallow pool, and there are only 4 parasols to 16 sunbeds, so choose to burn or hide somewhere unless youre lucky enough to grab some shade. The double rooms are very small with barely 24 inches of space around the beds, and our first room 203 had no storage space for bags and two air-conditioning units on the balcony, one for our room and the other for the adjacent apartment. There was no peace for the first two nights as both of these units were loudly active throughout the night. Rather grudgingly, we were moved up to room 307 where at least we could unpack properly and get some sleep because the air-con was on the roof. Some lights dont work, door frames hang off the walls, and wires protrude, some wrapped in insulation tape because they are presumably still live, but the cleaners come (nearly) every day and change the bedding. The Wi-Fi is very good, the showers are reliable, and air-con is included in the price. Bed-and-breakfast guests sleep and wash at the Villa Orange, but eat and drink elsewhere. Food is served at the Selena Beach Hotel across the road, or you might choose to eat and drink at the Flamingo complex (see my separate review). Its going to be one or the other of these or a half-hour walk into town as there are no buses. If you are lucky you can rent a safe at the Selena Beach (35 Leva a week), but that is dependent on availability. TUI initially claimed when we booked in December that Villa Orange has a private beach it does not. Tickets to Bamboo Beach are purchased by the nearby hotels and re-sold to guests. There are a limited number available, so sometimes you will be disappointed. And since the Selena Beach is an integral part of the Villa Orange experience, its also worth casting an eye over their provision too. The morning food is okay, essentially a buffet breakfast which can be eaten inside or out, but the evening meals are more variable in quality. They also offer a 2-for-1 cocktail promotion in the evenings, but again the outcomes are unpredictable. Warm Pina Coladas and a pick-and-mix Mai Tai will keep you guessing as to the ingredients. Theres more mint in a tube of toothpaste than their mojitos. Most significantly with the Selena Beach is the ambience. It is a soulless place. The bar is unwelcoming, and the ever-present soundtrack comprises a variety of woe is me dirges by a compendium of depressives from the bottom of the Sade barrel. Youll be asked to pay up pretty quickly in the evenings because they want the bar cleared by 11 oclock. We simply cannot recommend Villa Orange as a hotel. For many years we have travelled through the Mediterranean and the Balkans and stayed in worst places than this, but at all other times we at least felt welcome. The negatives were always overcome by a genuine desire to please the guests, but at both Villa Orange and the Selena Beach there was scarcely an effort to see the tourists from the west as little more than cash cows.

BoringThe apartment we had was really lovely; spacious, clean; great views from the large balcony & really nice bathroom/shower. Unfortunately that is the only pro for me the staff are miserable and unfriendly apart from the guy who covers the night reception. The pool area is so small the sun loungers are all squeezed together so you have to get on/ off them from the bottom and shuffle. There is no music no bar just a small pool. The beaches are packed. Our first night we thought we would eat at their hotel opposite we ordered 2 starters and 2 mains easy yeah? Nope 1 starter came then half hour later the other starter (cold) and one main when we asked where the other main was we was told "I don't know" ! We walked out. Town is about 20 minute walk away and has plenty of places to eat. I would recommend the Villa Orange if you want a nice clean comfortable apartment in a very quiet location.

Good spot for the price! We picked this place for the price. Its basic but was perfect for what we we needed. It was clean and quiet. The room was small but again, for the price we weren't looking for huge luxury. Next to the hotel is a little store where you can buy breakfasts and the hotel had a mini fridge so we could take stuff back there. The reception was very friendly and provided us with things like plates when asked for them. Also, the pool is a nice touch!

Value for money with a really good breakfastStayed here for 14 nights. Having travelled extensively in Bulgaria this hotel is pretty good compared to most of the others I have booked. Very close to supermarkets. Room has aircon and a medium sized fridge perfect for chilling your bottled water. Typical sized twin/double bedroom. Kettle provided. Housekeeping not the best but fairly typical for the country. Staff a bit of a mixture with some not saying a word. The chap in the breakfast room was very polite as were the young girls on reception. Had an issue with the shower but it was rectified the same day I mentioned the problem. Got this stay at a good price so despite the issues I would consider staying here again.

Problem with the bookingI'm having really bad experience with the booking at this hotel. A week ago we made a reservation for this hotel in Sozopol, Bulgaria via Trivago and ZenHotels. I've paid for the reservation in advance and when I got to the hotel I was surprised by the news that the reservation did not go through . The receptionist told me the hotel was overbooked and they didn't help me at all with the issue. It was a nightmare to find another accommodation. So now I want my money back but after a week still have no confirmation from ZenHotels. They still "working" on it. Probably will have to open a dispute with my credit card if I don't get refund within a week. So don't use this ZenHotels if you want to have a zen vacation!
