    Exceptional Traditional Umbrian Villa experience

Check out a new you tube clip to see how fantastic this place really is. Roberto the manager is truly the heart and sole of this beautiful building from a romantic period in Italian history - Bella Figura. Roberto looked after us so well, with keenness, grace and charm. Nothing was too much trouble for him. Local advice re: parking, days out, good restaurants - look out for Il Tartufo. High end food for reasonable prices. We went twice! The villa has beautiful grounds, terraces overlooking old Spoleto, the bridge and the valley. There is also a pool (sadly we missed out on this as it was cold and wet not the pool - the weather), another reason for us to return. Thank you Roberto.

Fabulous and Stylish old Italian Splendour

We recently spent 6 nights here, in a lovely spacious room (the Altair) with its own little terrace, leading to the garden. Plenty of places to sit and look at the splendid view. The location of this small and personal hotel is beautiful, and the Manager, Roberto, the most helpful and friendly man. He couldn't have done more for us. As my partner is diabetic, we bought some sausages and eggs for breakfast, and Roberto was delighted to prepare them for him. Nothing was too much trouble. The living and dining rooms are lovely to spend some time in (as we did during the rain!), and are in immaculate condition. We felt very much at home. From previous reviews there were a few complaints of the small bathroom that comes with the 'Altair' room, however, we didn't find this a problem at all. There was even a little table to put bits and pieces on. The little fridge in the room was lovely and cold - so no horrid luke warm drinks on a warm day! Some of the hotel is in a mild state of disrepair, but when you stay in old Italian splendour, for such a reasonable rate, it wouldn't be fair to complain. I would come again and again. I hope Roberto remains the manager, as he adds to the Italian charm. Highly recommend. Genuine Italian hospitality.

    Over Promises and Under Delivers

We don't recommend this place -We arrived late, wet and hungry after train breakdown and having previously arranged a pick up from them from the train station called them as we were late. She sent a car for which we presumed was part of the deal. 20 Euros later and no idea there was in fact a shuttle bus service. She blamed us for not providing an ETA which in fact had been provided via email on 26/5/15. She then annouced upon our arrival at approx 7.30pm that the restaurant was closed and we'd need to go into town for a meal! We showered and changed and then paid a further 40E for a return trip to town for dinner. She also asked us if we had a car? (After requesting a pick up from the railway station)? TV reception poor and volume set so low we couldn't hear it. WiFI in room sometimes non existent and definitely not available after approx. 8.00pm. We twice given threadbare and holed towels. No information about restaurant service, lunch service or bar service. No minibar, no robes as advertised. The phone in the room didn't even plug into the wall, no hot water one morning, shower pressure erratic and poor as the shower rose is calcified. We felt very unwelcome and "persona non grata". With the exception of the lovely lady who served breakfast every morning and the room cleaners the management staff were appalling. The breakfasts were average and unimaginative and if you are a bit later than others nothing is replenished. If you do book in here - you will need a car. The town of Spoleto is approx 2 km walk and a good one during the day but at night the road is dark unlit and dangerous. This establishment offers no transport services at all.

Don Matteo is no ordinary priest

We stayed for 5 nights and loved it. Maria was charming, very helpful and made us laugh a lot! Very spectacular setting, opulent common areas and gardens. The pool was fine. We enjoyed the breakfasts and the feel of this ever so slightly faded majestic mansion.

    Stunning gardens and views

incredible location and views. Staff were excellent. The Villa, its gardens and stunning views from the pool. The town of Spoleto was also stunning. Free wifi. a minor issue was that our room was at the front of house above the reception area which was quite noisy at times, but we would not let this deter us from visiting again.
